I recently saw a story about a cat who got stuck inside a reclining chair while trying to avoid a vet visit — thankfully, this kitty was rescued safely and is okay.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲… 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘆.

As someone who works closely with animals every day — and with my experience in veterinary settings I have seen and heard of cases where cats get trapped inside reclining furniture, and the outcome can be devastating.

Cats often crawl into the inner mechanisms of recliners and couches. When the chair is moved, they can become crushed, trapped, severely injured, or even killed without anyone realizing they were inside.

This is something I’m always mindful of when caring for your pets in your home ❤️

A few simple precautions if you have a recliner:

• Always check before opening or closing it

• Be aware of where your cat is, especially if they like to hide

• Keep recliners closed when not in use

• Consider blocking access to the underside

𝗡𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗬 𝟴 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗘, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗠𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗠𝗬 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬.

There’s no feeling like saving a life and getting a hug from a dog who knows he’s safe. 🥹

As many of you know, in addition to running Coastal Pet Care, I also run a nonprofit rescue, Four Legged Freedom Rescueand sweet souls like Haven are why I do what I do.

Four dogs arrived from Texas this weekend, and Haven is one of them. He is pure love—and he’s ready for his forever home.

It’s Christmas Eve, and I’m busy spreading cheer to our beloved feline friends! 🎄❤️

When I arrived at Elsa’s house she was waiting under the tree, wondering where her presents might be! 🎁

And when I arrived at Jasper’s house, he was keeping a close watch from the top of the stairs, peering down as if trying to decide whether I might actually be Santa in disguise! 🎅🏻😹
