These ornery bugs commonly come out in warm humid weather and love to lounge in grassy areas.

If your pet enjoys being outdoors you may notice black fly bites on your pets abdomen or groin areas. These can look like small round welts or bruises and are typically the size of a dime or a nickel.

Two By Two Animal Hospital partners with Greg VanderWaal, a certified equine dentist to perform sedated dental floats. What is a dental float? We are glad you asked!

Horse teeth continuously erupt through their entire lives and often get sharp. A dental float is the process of smoothing out their teeth using special tools. A horse chews in a circular motion to eat. If there are peaks or ridges in the teeth, this will prevent the horse from fully chewing. Reasons your horse may need a dental: Your horse is dropping food out of their mouths, they are a messy eater, have sensitivity to the bit, head shaking, or trouble chewing. Some horses will not experience any of the listed reasons, however, yearly dentals are recommended for all horses.

The photo below is a wonderful example of a healthy mouth post float. One of the tools visible is a speculum that allows the horse to keep its mouth open and comfortable while the float is being performed.
