Lilly enjoyed some fresh air and trail time during her boarding stay in this lovely weather! 🌿🐶

As one of our therapy dogs, Lilly is always such a joy to have around, and she loved getting out for a relaxing walk on the trail while staying with us.

Boarding stays are about more than just supervision. We love making sure our dogs continue getting enrichment, structure, and fun outings while they’re here! 🐾

Dazzle is enjoying some trail time during her boarding stay 🌿

As one of our returning trainees, she already knows the routine and does an amazing job jumping right back into training outings and adventures with us.

One of the benefits of training with us is having a familiar environment and the option to continue maintaining skills during boarding stays! 🐾

While Memorial Day is now observed on the last Monday in May, it was traditionally observed on May 30th for generations of Americans.

In 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, moving Memorial Day to a Monday beginning in 1971 to create a three-day federal holiday weekend. But for many veterans, military families, and communities, especially throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the greater DMV region, May 30th remained the day of remembrance for many years afterward.

For some, it still is.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the families who carried that sacrifice forward.

Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Beautiful weather calls for a lake day with Chester ☀️🐶🌊

This future facility therapy dog enjoyed some time outdoors while practicing his place command on a rock by the lake. Training in different environments helps dogs learn how to stay calm, focused, and responsive no matter where they are! 🐾

Princeton is making the most of the sunshine! ☀️
After several days of rain and cloudy weather, our trainees are definitely excited to get back outside and enjoy the warm weather again. Princeton got to spend some time soaking up the sun and swimming!

We are honored to see our wonderful therapy dogs Finn, Teddy, Bailey, and George featured in a 2-page spread in Walt Whitman Middle School’s 2026 yearbook! 💙🐶

Our team first visited the school back in 2022, and since then, we have built a partnership with regular monthly visits throughout the school year. Seeing the impact our therapy dogs have had on the students and knowing those visits meant enough to be recognized in the yearbook is so special to us.

Today marked our final visit of the school year, but we’re already looking forward to returning again next year! 🐾

Rex is getting the hang of loose leash walking! 👏
One of his mom’s biggest goals coming into training was improving his leash skills, especially after his recent transition from farm life to a city environment. At 8 years old, that’s a huge adjustment! Leash walks around other dogs have proven to be a struggle for him since moving to his new home.
Since he started his training program, he has been picking up on his new skills quickly and is already making great progress with staying calmer and more comfortable on walks! 🐾

Niko has officially wrapped up his 6 week psychiatric service dog training program and is heading home today! 🐶
This video is from one of his final public outings, where he continued showing off the skills he’s worked so hard to build throughout his training journey. From foundational obedience and loose leash walking to maintaining focus in public and working through distractions, Niko has made incredible progress every step of the way! 👏
We’re so proud of this boy and honored to have helped prepare him for his future role as a service dog for a veteran.

First public training outing for Sgt. Murphy! 👏
This was his very first public training session, which is a huge step for any dog in training. Transitioning from the home environment into public settings introduces all kinds of new distractions, sounds, smells, and sights that dogs have to learn to work through while staying engaged and focused.
Sgt. Murphy worked hard to get to this point, and he did an amazing job during his outing. 🐾
