Dear Valued Clients,
We hope you and your furry family members are doing well! We’re excited to share that two of our devoted veterinarians, Dr. Mark Atma and Dr. Ruth TenBroek, will be traveling to the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal from the 1st through 3rd weeks of May to work with the Kathmandu Animal Treatment (KAT) Centre—one of Nepal’s oldest and most respected animal medical organizations.
What They’ll Be Doing
• Vaccinations for Rabies: Rabies remains a serious threat in Nepal, with many street dogs transmitting the virus through bites. By vaccinating these animals, we’re helping reduce the risk to local people and pets alike.
• Spay/Neuter (Sterilizations): Human–dog conflicts and bites often increase with unregulated street-dog populations. Sterilization helps humanely manage population size and further lowers rabies risk.
• Treatment of Mange: Mange is a common, debilitating skin disease in street dogs there. Thanks to your generosity, our team will be bringing donated medications to treat these animals.
How You Can Help
Dr. Atma’s niece and sister are spearheading a fund drive to raise money for a much-needed replacement “pet ambulance” for the KAT Centre, whose current vehicle frequently breaks down in route to rescue calls. This ambulance is also used to help people during events such as the flooding and mudslides of 2024. If you would like to contribute to this effort or support the KAT Centre’s ongoing work, please visit:

Clinic Coverage & Scheduling
During this period, our hospital will be staffed by our other two other doctors. We appreciate your patience and understanding if you experience longer wait times or difficulty scheduling an appointment from the 1st through 3rd weeks of May. We will do our very best to accommodate urgent cases and keep our regular services running smoothly.
Thank you for your continued trust in us and for considering support of this important mission. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of animals—and the people who love them—half a world away.
Warm regards,
