This handsome dude is officially up for adoption! He has eaten a frozen/thawed meal with me and has had a nice shed. He is looking for a forever home where he will be cared for for years to come!

If you are interested in adopting handsome dude, you must have a 4 ft enclosure that is move in ready, or at least ready by the time he goes home, and be able to provide veterinary care should he need it.

His adoption fee is $125 and if you are interested, you can fill out the application below!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON JUNE 20TH??

well now you're coming to the 4th annual Rocky Start Rescue benefit at the Griffin downtown Battle Creek!!

June 20th from 1-5 pm we will have some ambassadors with us and we will have a swag table with new t shirts and stickers, plus silent auction baskets and a 50/50 raffle.

Riff Raff BC will be playing the entire time and $1 from each drink sold during the event goes right to the rescue. You CANT miss this year's event! It's such a blast every time and it is always our biggest financial help in this tough season.

If you have ever had questions about what we do, wanted to see some of our animals, or maybe just wanted to hang out with us and listen to some awesome music, then this is the time to do it!

Can't wait to see you all there!

Remember those funny looking raccoons I posted a few weeks ago? They turned into some certified cuties!! Itchy and scratchy are 5 weeks old this week and they're starting to wean and they have BIG opinions about feeding time! Itchy (the gray one) is not as graceful at weaning as you can tell by the wet food all over her face and paws 😂

They will both be spayed/neutered and given their first rabies vaccine before heading off to their forever homes. Where are my black cat fans? I have two that are the sweetest cutest little boys and they will need a home who appreciates their beauty!

Before it's over I want to wish a happy birthday to Jamie! She's subpermitted on my license and she works her butt off for the wildlife. I wouldn't be able to take half of the animals I do each year if it weren't for Jamie feeding and carrying for her share! Happy birthday, Jamie and thank you for everything you do for Rocky start!!

Some days you're doing all right and some days you're doordashing bananas at 8:00 a.m. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The reality is that I am drowning in babies like every other rehabber in the state. We will have to go on intake hold for a little while which really sucks because they're just are not many places for these guys to go. Just know that we're trying our best. ❤️

Hi friends! Just a reminder that when you are calling rescues and rehabbers in search of help to please only call or text one time and then wait for them to respond. We understand that you are concerned about the baby and we understand that it is stressful. It is not helpful for us to have to sift through extra calls and texts or texts from several individuals about the same animal when we receive up to 100 calls a day.

It's important to remember as well that we do not get paid to do this. Not one rehabber in this state gets paid. We also don't get grants or funding. So when we do not answer you right away, it is likely because we were caring for the animals we already have taken in or we are at our jobs so that we can continue to do this.

This month and the month of June are the absolute hardest for rehabbers. There are not enough of us and there are certainly not enough of us that take raccoons. Everyone is full and we are all stretched to our absolute limit. Please trust that we want to help you and we wish we could take every single animal but that's not the reality. So when we try to offer you suggestions to other rescues or ask you to travel just a little bit. It is so helpful if you can be a little flexible. Remember that you have one baby, we have 50.

And lastly, please make sure that anytime you bring an animal to a rehabber to include a donation of any amount. If you are able to. Raising one raccoon kid alone can cost $500* that by 50 and you can imagine how stressful it is to do this on our own without funding.

Thank you so much for all of your support, your kind words, and your donations.
Peace, love and baby s**t,
Rocky. ❤️

Whoof! What a month May has been and it's not over yet. I've been MIA for about a week because frankly, I'm doing too much. We have a million babies here (ok more like 50 but it feels like a million) and we are just feeding and cleaning to turn around and feed and clean again. I have been terrible at taking photos as babies come in but here's a cute photo to make up for it. This little dude came in yesterday and though he is the size and developmentally appears to be a one and a half to two week old raccoon, his eyes are already open! Baby raccoons usually don't open their eyes until about 3 weeks and even then they are opening gradually. This guy is wide awake! Me? Not so much.

You can donate to the rescue and help us raise the crew we have and get them back to the wild where they belong at the links below. Thanks for your support!!
