A cloud exploded in my grooming room today! ☁️💥😂
But seriously… the best part of my job isn’t making dogs look perfect—it’s helping them feel comfortable.
This sweet boy had enough undercoat to make at least two more dogs just like him! He has some of the thickest, coarsest coat I’ve ever worked with.
After talking with his owner, we decided that a shorter haircut would be the best option for him. Giving a double-coated dog a true haircut is a decision I never take lightly, but sometimes it truly is in the dog’s best interest.
Now Rex can cool off more easily, and his coat can do what it’s designed to do without all that dead, compacted undercoat packed against his skin. He’ll feel so much better without carrying around all that extra floof!
He was the best boy through his 4-hour spa day (‼️), and I have no doubt he went home, found the coldest spot on the floor, and immediately took the longest nap of his life. 🥹🤍
P.S. Yes… that mountain of fur in the last picture really did come from one dog. 😂
