💡 Did you know? Thousands of tires have been illegally dumped at Monte Sano Park, polluting the bayou and the surrounding community. Thanks to the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Healthy Communities Grant, BREC has received $10,000 to remove these tires and prevent future dumping.

We’re inviting the community to help! Join our volunteer event on Saturday, January 24, 2026, to stack tires for removal and restore this natural space. Together, we can protect the ecosystem and keep our community clean!

BREC is proud to support Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s “Let Louisiana Shine” campaign, promoting simple ways everyone can help prevent litter: bag your trash, secure your loads, pick up litter when you see it, and use reusable bags. 🌿

☀️🔭 Catch a Glimpse of Our Star!

Join us at HRPO for Solar Viewing on Saturday, September 27, from noon–2 p.m., and see the Sun like never before! Using special devices, our team will showcase sunspots, flares, prominences, and more—safe for ages 6 and up. Weather permitting, you’ll be able to view the Sun’s image in three different ways: projected onto a white surface, through safely-filtered optical light, and in hydrogen-alpha wavelength. Don’t forget sunscreen and protective clothing!
