Well, you have done it again!
Thanks to your generous donations of the best yard sale goods anywhere as well as shopping our sale we have made more than we ever have before on a sale. Our grand total today was $5,096.00! I know, we can't believe it either!
It started at 8 am with a line of people coming through the doors ready to shop! The holding area filled up quickly with everything you can imagine. We went through more numbers than ever for holding!
Anne Lavoie, Dawn, Patty Sig & Stacie B made fabulous baked goods for us to sell at our bake sale table & away we went!
Sales were very brisk right up until about 10 am which is about an hour over when we usually slow down to a crawl! We had an AMAZING amount of stuff, more than ever & most of the really great stuff was gone by then though there were still great buys from 10 - 11 when our crackerjack team started packing up. Boxes, paper & pack up supplies were flying, tables were sanitized & wiped down & folded up.
Volunteers that work for other organizations packed up. We had LOTS of items go to Betti who goes to Deering Oaks park every Saturday to do the "tarp Mall" for the unhoused! Any leftover clothing & shoes in good condition as well as socks, toiletries, sleeping bags, rolling luggage & tote bags go to her, Linens are packed for Wilderness Miracles in Bowdoin, our wildlife rehabilitator in this area which she shares with other rehabilitators, books were packed for both library bookstores, items were donated to the senior center like walkers & shower chairs, we shared some stuffies & jewelry as bingo prizes with Horizons nursing facility, school supplies went to a local art teacher, cat & dog items were to be dropped off at Dogwill in Bath, a few other non profits came through the line today & when they mentioned their group we waved them through without paying...it takes a village, furniture goes to the restore, many items to goodwill that are not claimed by other groups & finally, we had about 6 dozen wooden roses donated to us to sell for mother's day & all of those that did not sell..about 5 dozen I dropped off at Winship Green this afternoon for the staff to give out to the mom's who are patients tomorrow for mother's day. All in a day's work.
We could not do any of this without your donations & the help of our volunteers! Most of the people you see working at the sales are board members or our cat companions but a few of them are just our long time friends that we could not do without...& of course our go to guy when it comes to trucking & the nicest guy in the world, Jeff Patterson & his lovely wife Melissa!
We were so busy I didn't get many pictures today, only these few! I didn't get any that I usually get right before we start & these were at the end. If you had seen everything at start up you would not have believed it. We didn't & we set it all up!
