Remember when we recently mentioned that some patients fall asleep during laser therapy --

Meet Macky.

Macky agrees that when the laser hits just right, nap time simply takes over! 😴💤💖

After a recent paw surgery, he is soaking up all the healing power of laser & light therapy while getting pets from the staff, hearing what a "good boy" he is & simultaneously catching some ZzZz’s!

Talk about laser therapy's added benefits! 😉

🐾 Six Fun Facts About Laser Therapy for Pets 🐾

1. The Wind Down

Laser Therapy sessions often start with a "Wind Down" treatment lasting ~30–90 seconds. This full-body sweep is meant to aid in relaxation. Pets often relax so much during it that they will need very little restraint for the targeted treatment. Some pets even take a little cat nap! 😴💤

2. Safe for All Ages

From playful pups to adult cats, laser is safe for all ages. It can be used on the spay incision of a young puppy to reduce pain and inflammation with just as much ease & efficacy as its use on the inflamed gum tissue of an elderly kitty.

3. Speeds Healing Time

Laser Therapy helps cells repair themselves faster, which could mean shorter recovery time after surgery or injury. Laser Therapy works by stimulating blood flow, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to damaged +/or inflamed tissue. The laser stimulates the cell to create more energy & with that energy, your pet's cells repair themselves. Not only do they repair themselves, but they do it faster, too! The laser is essentially delivering “rocket fuel” for a healing mission instead of regular old gasoline! ⛽🚀

4. Quick Treatment Time

Sessions are usually just a few minutes long, sometimes less time than it takes to get belly rubs and a treat at the front desk. ⌛✨

5. A Wide Array of Uses

From ear infections to wound healing, oral inflammation, and osteoarthritis (OA) treatment, Laser Therapy has a wide array of indicated uses.

6. Drug-Free & Cost-Effective Pain Relief

Laser Therapy is a great option for pets who cannot tolerate certain medications or need extra support along with their medication for pain relief. It is a more cost-effective option than most NSAID or injectable OA medications. Best of all — it is a scientifically tested & proven treatment! CCVH offers laser treatment for as low as $30–$45 per treatment site.

If you think your pet could benefit from Laser Therapy, please call/text us at 443-873-8431 or email us at [email protected] with the subject "Laser".

⚾🐾 More fun than a grand slam! 🐾⚾

Many members of our awesome crew (including our newest vet, Dr. Bynum! 🤗) had an amazing time cheering on the O’s together this past Thursday night at Night @ . We sadly lost to the Astros 7-2, but that didn't stop us from making so many great memories. Team nights like these remind us how lucky we are to have such a supportive, fun-loving team both inside and outside the hospital. Here’s to many more CCVH team outings & loads more memories made! 🧡🖤

A Note to the Orioles Organiztion -- The Charm City Staff thanks you for including Veterinary Heroes in Healthcare Appreciation Night. Veterinary teams are all too often left out of the healthcare equation, so we sincerely appreciated the opportunity to feel the love! Let's Go Os!

It is was heavy & sad hearts, full of wonderful memories, that we share this news. Our beloved clinic cat, Arnold, will be retiring from hospital life. As many of you know, Dr. Karbonik will soon be leaving our team, and with her departure, she has decided to bring Arnold home with her to enjoy the comfort and peace of family life in his golden years. Arnold is retiring!

Arnold has been the very soul of our hospital since the day he was adopted. He is our greeter, our comforter & our constant companion. His presence has brought warmth and smiles to countless clients, patients, and staff over the years. He always knows which lap to pick to brighten up our day, like a sixth sense. While we know this decision is made with love for him as he grows older, our entire team is utterly heartbroken. The grief we feel for the loss of his presence is real and palpable. Saying goodbye has brought many tears, and we are grieving the loss of seeing his beautiful face & hearing his excited little “meep” when we arrive in the clinic every day.

Because this decision came sooner than expected, Arnold will be leaving a week earlier than Dr. Karbonik so he has time to adjust to his new residence. Today will be his last day with us here at the hospital. We sincerely apologize for the late notice, but our staff has been most focused on our remaining time with him.

Arnold headed out on his retirement adventure today at noon. We apologize we didn't have more notice to allow everyone to say goodbye. Please share your photos, memories, and love for our Arnie in the comments. We know he has touched many lives, we know he will feel how much he is loved, and we also know your stories will mean so much to us as we navigate a new world without his daily presence.
