Understanding Cancer Terminology 🎗️
When facing a cancer journey, medical terms can feel overwhelming. Here's a breakdown of key concepts that can help you navigate conversations with your healthcare team:
🔬 DIAGNOSIS identifies the specific tumor type:

Round cell tumors
Sarcomas
Carcinomas

📊 STAGING determines how far the cancer has spread throughout the body (metastasis). Common staging methods include:

Physical examination
Laboratory tests
Tissue sampling (cytology/histology)
Diagnostic imaging

🔍 GRADING evaluates how abnormal cancer cells look under a microscope. This helps predict:

How aggressive the tumor may be
Expected growth rate
Likelihood of spreading

💡 Remember: Stage ≠ Grade

Stage = How far cancer has spread
Grade = How abnormal the cells appear
