Someone helped shape who you became.

Today, childcare professionals provide that same support, guidance, and care to the next generation. During GFWC Advocates for Children Week, we recognize the dedicated individuals who help children learn, grow, and thrive every day.

It's WHRC Wednesday - and we're in the middle of GFWC Advocates for Children Week! This annual event invites our members to focus on the GFWC Juniors' Special Program, Advocates for Children, and look for ways to positively impact kids in our communities. During this administration, one emphasis is on the importance of childcare centers in the lives of children and their families. How can club members help the kids, parents, staff, and volunteers at these vital places?

Since this is the weekly history post, naturally the WHRC looked into the archives for evidence of our long-standing commitment to ensuring children have safe and nurturing daycares, preschools, Head Starts, and other facilities. Whether we're looking at it from the standpoint of educational advantages, of enabling families to work outside the home, or of providing safe places for kids at risk, GFWC has been invested in the issue of childcare for over a century.

Does your club have a historical (or current!) project that has assisted a local childcare center with donating books and supplies, supporting staff, raising funds, or other activities? Let us know in the comments!
