Located in Augusta, Georgia. We are a grassroots organization that begin with incorporation in 2015. We have NO PHYSICAL FACILITY as we are a foster home rescue!

Hands to Paws Rescue provides education, direct care and cooperative efforts for those in need of access to rescue, fostering and adoption of animals in the CSRA. Organized initially by Kathryn Ellis with friends and family that were concerned about the animal situation in the CSRA. The group received initial Non-profit status in September 2016 and have been GA Dept of Agriculture licensed since 2

016. To this day the rescue continues to be an All-volunteer, non-paid Board of Directors. All activities are volunteer-based and the rescue is an All-donation (or grant) based funding rescue! A word from one of our longest rescue residents:

“Hi… it’s me, Chai 💙 I’ve been here for 580 days 🥺 I’ve watched other cats get picked — kittens, young ones, the ones who fit in your lap just right. I’m happy for them… but I keep wondering… what if no one comes for me? 😩
I’m shy and not the first cat you’ll notice when you come to adoption events. But that doesn’t mean I won’t love you. If you give me a chance, I promise you’ll discover my heart. I will make a great companion for another cat or dog. I’m ready for my new home… I just need someone patient enough to see past my shyness.”

Every single day, MANY kittens are facing euthanasia simply because there is nowhere for them to go 💔

We can save them — but we can’t do it without YOU. This need is urgent!! Even if you can only give us ONE WEEK, it could mean the difference between life and death for a kitten in need 🐾

We cover all medical care costs and we offer a supportive foster community to walk you through every step. We have litter and kitten food through donation, while supplies lasts. All you need is a safe space and a caring heart ❤️

🌟 Foster Spotlight: Meet Megan! 🌟

Megan’s journey into rescue began with her soul cat, Mr. Corn 🐾 He was a rescue himself, and when she sadly had to say goodbye to him, Megan knew she wanted to honor his memory by helping save other lives just like his 💛 In April 2025, she joined the Hands to Paws foster family — and we are so thankful she did!

Megan is a proud military spouse, mom of 3 (soon to be four), a lover of all things Chick-fil-A 🍟🐔, enjoys sewing and fishing, and she’s happiest curled up on the couch with a purring foster kitty in her lap 🐈‍⬛ Her compassion and dedication have helped give countless cats the chance to find loving forever homes 🫶🏼
