Our Highland Helpful Haul has been a huge success so far, and it’s all thanks to our amazing clients and community who have donated! 💙 Your generosity has already made a big difference for local rescues and shelters, and we want to give a special shout-out to those organizations that have benefited from these donations. 🐾

As Veterinary Assistant Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible team of vet assistants here at Highland Animal Hospital. Their dedication, compassion, and hard work behind the scenes play a vital role in everything we do — from comforting nervous pets to celebrating joyful puppy visits, and supporting our doctors through even the toughest cases. We truly could not do what we do without them.

Recently we have received many questions and calls about wildlife in our area. Unfortunately we do not take in or treat wildlife animals as we do not have a wildlife license. We recommend contacting Georgia Wildlife Network by texting to 678-827-5496 a picture of the animal, the situation of the animal and the address with city so that a rehabber can be in contact with you.

Location, location, location....

PLEASE. When you text us for help with an animal, be sure to include details of the situation, a photo of the animal (if possible), and THE CITY YOU ARE IN. Georgia has 537 cities. We cannot give you contact info for a nearby rehabber if we don't know where you are. Failing to provide the necessary info delays the process and most importantly, delays the animal getting into care.

🌞🔥 Hot Days = Hot Pavement! 🔥🐾

Friendly reminder from all of us at Highland: if it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws! 🐶🐾

Asphalt can reach over 125°F on sunny days—even when the air feels "just warm." That can cause serious burns in just seconds.

💡 Quick Tip: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. Too hot? Walk your pet on grass, early mornings, or later in the evening!
