Fayette Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all volunteer organization with a mission of spay & neuter.

The National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy’s most recent survey estimates that 64% of the total number of animals that enter shelters are euthanized. The FHS is dedicated to ending the needless suffering of unwanted pets through our aggressive spay and neuter program. In an effort to do our part to alleviate this pandemic, we offer discounted certificates for spay and neuter assistanc

e to those who qualify and as funds permit. Prior to every adoption, we test, vaccinate, and spay or neuter all of our animals, or make arrangements to have them spayed or neutered, ensuring that they will not reproduce and add to this growing problem. Our ultimate goal is to find permanent loving homes for all of our rescued animals.

Meet Deb!

Deb 1 yr old purebred black and white smooth coat Border Collie.

Deb requires an owner with a very active lifestyle and breed experience. She is NOT for a new border collie owner. She is young, driven and very energetic. Deb is great with other dogs, I’m unsure about cats yet, and great with kids. Housebroken and crate trained. She loves toys and will play forever but, settles nicely in a kennel. Has good leash manners and doesn’t jump. She is very environmentally sound and stable. Ideally she would go to a potential sport home or as an active companion. This is NOT a dog for someone who wants a couch potato or a companion for your other dog. She needs someone who will exercise her mind and body and fulfill the needs of a young busy border collie.

**DESPERATELY IN NEED OF A NEW FOSTER! ASAP!!**

See Bella was found as a stray puppy back in October. She was taken in by a family who was getting ready for a move, but they were hoping that she would be adopted before they moved. They got all of her vaccines, preventions, and medical care taken care of and she is ready to be adopted. But when she could finally go online and to adoptions… she got only crickets.

So far, no one has wanted to give her a chance !!

Bella is an adorable Husky mix who is about 7-8 months old.

She is good with people and most other dogs. She does best with laid back or submissive dogs who let her approach them on her terms. Dogs who are pushy freaks her out at first.
We are not sure how she is with kids or cats because she has not been around them yet. She is almost housetrained and crate trained. She is a little nervous at first when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly. She is LOTS of fun!! She weighs 51 pounds and we think that she will reach about 60 pounds when full grown.

We think that Bella is a "Pitsky" since she looks a lot like that mix- a Siberian Husky/Pitbull mix. She is also a high energy girl which fits with that mix too!

Meet Scarlett!

She is so full of personality!! Scarlett loves to play and cuddle and prefers the sleep in beds or on soft places. She tends to think before she leaps and is learning some basic commands. She is working on potty training.

She is about 11-12 weeks old and is ready for a forever home! Scarlett was found by a dumpster with the rest of her sisters, so we do not know what breed mix she is for sure. She appears to be a pit bull terrier mix, but who knows what other breeds are in her! We are also having to take a guess of how big Scarlett will be when full grown, but we think that she will reach 55-70 pounds or so. She is currently 16 pounds!

Scarlett is good with kids and LOVES other dogs. She is super social and loves everyone she meets.

Meet Willow!

She is so full of personality!! Willow loves to play and cuddle and prefers the sleep in beds or on soft places. She tends to leap BEFORE looking and is always looking for a good time! She is working on potty training. She is affectionate and goofy!

She is about 11-12 weeks old and is ready for a forever home! Willow was found by a dumpster with the rest of her sisters, so we do not know what breed mix she is for sure. She appears to be a pit bull terrier mix, but who knows what other breeds are in her! We are also having to take a guess of how big Willow will be when full grown, but we think that she will reach 60-70 pounds or so.
She is already a big girl at 16 pounds!

Willow is good with kids and other dogs.

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING!!

Meet Mistletoe!

She is about 11 weeks old and is ready for a forever home! Mistletoe is one of a number of puppies who came to us from a trailer park where the dogs are just running loose. Her mom is feral dog who has not been able to be trapped yet. We think that Mistletoe is a Great Pyrenees mix, with probably husky and pittie or other breeds in there! We think that she will be a big girl- she will probably grow up to be in the 55-65 pound range.

She is doing well with potty training! She is use to using a doggy door though and is slowly leaning how to tell her family when she needs to go out when the door is closed. She does great in a crate overnight. Mistletoe is very food motivated and is leaning “sit” and “crate”. She loves to play with other dogs and does GREAT with kids. Her foster family has two little kids. She loves to play with tennis balls and rope toys.

Mistletoe is very laid back and chill for a puppy. She is a cuddle bug and loves spending time with people.

Meet Tina!

Tina is a doodle mix who is looking for her forever home! Tina came to us with her sister Louise so keep an eye out for her photo as well. She is five and a half months old. Mom was a large breed doodle and dad was an unknown male. (The neighbor does have an intact Rottweiler, but we don’t know for certain if he’s the dad). We expect her to reach 45-60 pounds or so when full grown.

Tina does ok in a crate and she is picking up potty training well with few accidents. She is very playful, but can get a little possessive of toys and food. She is learning how to trade for these items, but her future family will need to keep up with that. She is very playful and loves to chase and pounce almost anything.

She is ready to find her forever home!

Poodle mixes are very high maintenance and the main two reasons we get them surrendered often to rescues is

1. Their energy level and their high intelligence makes a high energy dog who needs an outlet and can become naughty without training structure.

2. Grooming costs and time! Time and time again we see families needing to rehome these babies because of the high costs of seeing a professional groomer every month or two and of the daily and weekly maintenance at home that their coat requires. A full head to toe combing out and then brushing each and every inch of their body to foam through and prevent mats. For a large breed dog this is not going to be a 10 minute task.

Making sure that she is comfortable and used to grooming is something that really needs to be kept up with! Any family who is interested in adopting Tina or Louise needs to start talking to a groomer about getting her on a schedule to start getting her used to going to a professional groomer.

Everest is looking for a home!

She is about ten weeks old and is ready for a forever home! Everest was found by a dumpster with the rest of her sisters, so we do not know what breed mix she is for sure. She appears to be a pit bull terrier mix, but who knows what other breeds are in her! We are also having to take a guess of how big she will be when full grown, but we think that she will reach 50-60 pounds or so.

She is good with kids, but active! Everest does not know to not jump on kids yet, BUT she is good with kids and shares her foster home with young kids. She ADORES other dogs! Everest spent Christmas with 5 other adult dogs and played great with them. She is very loving and playful! She loves to snuggle on the couch. She is food motivated and is learning to sit for treats.
True to her puppy nature, she is very active and is almost always moving.

Everest is the most laid back of the pups, but even that is minimal ;) she still loves to run and play all day!

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING!!

Luna is the sweetest and friendliest girl!

She is a six month old wire hair terrier mix. We are not sure what breed mix she is, but we know that she is super cute and super playful! Luna is ACTIVE!! She is a go go go kind of girl!

She currently weighs about 20 pounds and we don’t think she will get over 30 pounds when fully grown. She adores all other dogs and kids. We do not know how she is with cats. She is house trained and crate trained. She knows how to sit for treats and she is very food motivated.
We have never met anyone who Luna doesn’t like! She simply HAS to greet everyone she sees! She is leash trained and is ready to go on adventures with you!
