We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all volunteer organization with a mission of spay & neuter.

The National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy’s most recent survey estimates that 64% of the total number of animals that enter shelters are euthanized. The FHS is dedicated to ending the needless suffering of unwanted pets through our aggressive spay and neuter program. In an effort to do our part to alleviate this pandemic, we offer discounted certificates for spay and neuter assistance to those who qualify and as funds permit. Prior to every adoption, we test, vaccinate, and spay or neuter all of our animals, or make arrangements to have them spayed or neutered, ensuring that they will not reproduce and add to this growing problem. Our ultimate goal is to find permanent loving homes for all of our rescued animals.

Meet Clare! Your Future Best Friend and Professional Cuddle Bug!

At just 3 months old and 11 pounds, Clare is already as big as her mama, Zooey! This sweet girl is growing fast, and we estimate she’ll weigh around 25–35 pounds when fully grown. Her mom is a Mini Aussiedoodle, and we suspect her dad was a Lab mix or Heinz 57. One of her brothers even had a DNA test that supports our best guess about her family tree!

Clare has inherited all the sweetness you could ask for. She’s outgoing, affectionate, and incredibly friendly. She seems to love everyone she meets and is always happy to make a new friend!

Clare gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, and she especially loves having other dogs around to play with. She’s a social girl who thrives on companionship, so she’d do best with a family that can give her plenty of attention, playtime, and interaction. Leave her to entertain herself for too long, and this clever puppy might just invent a little mischief of her own!

She’s already mastered house training and is crate trained, too! While she’d much rather be snuggled up beside her favorite human, she handles her crate well. When her foster parent leaves, Clare happily accepts a treat, heads inside, and settles into a routine of napping and playing until they return.

But don’t let that cuddly face fool you—Clare is also athletic and clever! She’s already shown she can jump a 3-foot indoor baby gate when she spots her humans or something interesting on the other side. Her future family will need to stay one step ahead of this adventurous little girl!

Meet Zooey! Your Next Cuddle Buddy Is Here!

At about 2 years old and just 11 pounds, Zooey is a tiny bundle of love with a big personality! She appears to be a Miniature Poodle/Australian Shepherd mix or a similar doodle mix, and she’s as sweet and outgoing as they come. Zooey has never met a stranger and seems to love absolutely everyone!

This little cuddle bug gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats. She loves playing with other dogs and thrives on companionship, so she’d enjoy a home where she has plenty of interaction and entertainment. Otherwise, her clever little mind might find its own ways to stay busy!

Zooey is house-trained and crate-trained. Although she’d much rather be snuggled up with her person, she does well in her crate when her foster leaves, happily alternating between naps and playtime.

Now, about that clever mind: Zooey is quite the jumper! She’s managed to clear a 3-foot indoor baby gate and climb a 5-foot outdoor fence to get where she wants to go. For her safety, she needs a home without a fenced yard, where her family will provide dedicated leash walks and supervised outdoor time.

Her beautiful coat also requires commitment, including regular comb-outs and professional grooming to prevent tangles and painful mats.

Zooey came to us with two of her puppies and was a wonderful mama. Now it’s finally her turn to be someone’s baby! If you’re looking for a loving, playful, affectionate companion who wants to be part of everything you do, Zooey could be your perfect match.

MEET MOLLY! A VERY GOOD GIRL.

Have your people call my people!

Molly is a 3-year-old, 60-pound bundle of love with a heart as big as her smile. Her breed? A random grab bag of love! She’s spayed, housebroken, crate trained, and ready to find her forever family.

Molly recently enjoyed a camping adventure with her dog friends, proving she’s always up for a little fun! But don’t let her adventurous side fool you. She’s equally happy back home, lounging beside her people while they watch TV, read a book, or enjoy the sunshine.

This girl has a playful side, too! She loves splashing in water, playing with her splash pad, chasing bubbles, and entertaining herself with her toys. She’s the perfect mix of fun-loving adventurer and professional couch companion.

Molly gets along with dogs, cats, and children. She enjoys wrestling and cuddling with her dog friends while respecting their boundaries. She’s also happy entertaining herself when her people are busy.

A few things her future family should know:

* Molly has a pre-existing knee issue that occasionally causes her to limp. She takes a prescription joint supplement, and her veterinarian recommends continuing it long-term.
* She has a strong interest in wildlife and may chase critters, so a securely fenced yard is essential. After dark, leash walks are recommended to keep her safe.
* She loves being close to her people, especially during thunderstorms and fireworks.
* Her short coat requires minimal grooming, and she’s perfectly happy taking a bath!

Molly is a wonderful girl who’s ready for both life’s little adventures and its quiet moments. Whether she’s camping with her canine buddies or curled up at home with her favorite people, Molly is happiest when she’s part of the family.

Meet Miss Marple!

This 30-pound, short-legged, long-bodied sweetheart appears to be a Dachshund, Corgi, Terrier, Chihuahua mix—or maybe a little of everything! She came to us from a hoarding situation and is looking for a special person to call her own.

Miss Marple needs about a week to warm up to someone new, but once you’ve earned her trust, you’ll have a devoted little shadow who wants to spend all her time with you!

She’s very protective of her person and home, so a quiet household with minimal visitors is essential. She needs an understanding adopter who can manage introductions to unfamiliar people and work with her on her protective behavior. No children, please, and a securely fenced yard is required.

Her favorite place? Right beside her person on the couch! Miss Marple is a professional cuddler who would happily spend all day snuggled up with her favorite human. She loves treats, gets along with other dogs, and knows how to sit and go into her crate.

She does have allergies, but they are managed with Apoquel and Benadryl.

Miss Marple may take a little time to let you into her heart, but once you’re her person, you’ll have a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side.

Meet Daisy!

At 8 years old and 70 pounds, Daisy is the kind of dog who reminds you that life is better when you slow down and enjoy the little things. This sweet hound mix is looking for a family to spend her golden years with, and she has so much love left to give.

Inside the home, Daisy is the definition of easygoing. She loves lounging around, taking naps, and simply being near her people. She's house trained, crate trained, and has wonderful house manners, making her an easy companion to welcome into your home.

Don't let her laid-back personality fool you—Daisy still loves getting outside! Walks are one of her favorite activities, and like any true hound, she enjoys taking her time to sniff every interesting scent along the way.

Daisy has lived with children and has always been gentle and loving with them. She has become more comfortable around other dogs and gets very excited when she sees them. Her excitement often comes with enthusiastic barking and howling, which is simply part of her charming hound personality. Once she's back home, though, she's content to relax and enjoy a quiet evening with her family.

She previously lived with a cat and did well, though it's been some time, so any introductions to feline friends should be done thoughtfully.

If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys peaceful days at home, leisurely walks, and plenty of love, Daisy may be the perfect addition to your family. She's ready to trade kennel life for a soft bed, a loving home, and a family to call her own.

Daisy does have allergies to grass, which is managed OK with daily Temeril-P (red skin is her main long term symptom). She has been through immunotherapy shots and allergy testing.

Meet Ari

Ari is an 8-month-old, approximately 50-pound Pit Bull mix with a huge heart a whole lot of puppy still left in him!

Ari is the kind of dog who may need a little time to decide that you’re his friend (really not long at all). He can be nervous when meeting new people and can feel overwhelmed in unfamiliar situations, but once he gets comfortable, his sweet and affectionate personality really shines. He loves to cuddle, is highly food-motivated, and is eager to learn when you show him what you want.

Ari has come a LONG way since coming into foster care. He is learning how to communicate appropriately with both people and dogs and is figuring out the rules of polite doggy interaction. He is an enthusiastic, vocal player — and when we say vocal, we mean Ari has a BIG voice! He loves to play with other dogs and has learned to respect the senior dog in his foster home. With younger dogs, he is still learning how to balance his enthusiasm with good manners.

Before coming to his foster home, Ari appears to have had limited interaction with other dogs. Now he is living with six dogs of all sizes, giving him lots of opportunities to learn canine social skills. He handles appropriate corrections well and is learning from his canine housemates, although he is definitely a little bit of a “mess around and find out” kind of learner.

Ari is also still working on his puppy mouthiness. He likes to play with his mouth, and he is learning that human hands and clothing are not chew toys. The good news is that he has made tremendous progress and is becoming much more respectful.

Ari is housebroken and is also good in his crate. He will need to be crated when his people are away. Like many adolescent puppies, he is still capable of getting himself into trouble! He is an enthusiastic chewer and has a dangerous habit of trying to swallow things he finds — including pieces of toys, socks, hair ties, and other household objects. His future family will need to be diligent about puppy-proofing and keeping tempting objects out of reach. We would really like to keep Ari out of the foreign-body surgery club!

When his people are home, Ari would much rather be right beside them — preferably in their bed, where he believes he belongs.

Ari can also become protective of his person in certain situations, such as in the car. We believe this behavior is rooted in insecurity, so continuing to build his confidence and help him feel secure will be an important part of his future.

Because Ari is a young, strong, growing dog, his ideal home will be with someone who has experience handling large, powerful dogs, particularly guardian-type breeds. He needs someone who understands that adolescence can be messy and who is willing to continue helping him build confidence, communication skills, impulse control, and good manners.

We would especially love to see Ari in a home with at least one calm, confident large-breed dog who can continue to model appropriate doggy manners for him. Ari genuinely enjoys having canine friends and has shown that he can thrive with the right dogs and guidance.

He already knows sit, loves treats, loves to cuddle, and is continuing to learn every day. He is also still figuring out where all four of those long puppy legs are supposed to go!

Ari isn't looking for a home that expects him to arrive perfectly trained. He's looking for someone who can see the wonderful dog he is becoming and is willing to help him get there.

Ari is a work in progress — but he is progressing beautifully. With patience, consistency, structure, continued socialization, and a confident human and canine role model, we think this goofy, affectionate, big-voiced puppy has an incredible future ahead of him.

Little Ghosts, Big Hearts! 👻🐾

The Fayette Humane Society sends a heartfelt thank-you to the Kedron Royal Rescuers for creating adorable Ghost catnip toys to raise awareness about pet homelessness and the care every pet deserves.

Awareness is the first step toward change—and these thoughtful young rescuers put their compassion into action! Their handmade ghosts brought extra fun to adoption day for our kitties while sharing an important message: homeless pets need love, care, and a chance to belong.

Kedron Royal Rescuers, we hope you’ll keep creating, caring, and speaking up for animals.
