🚨 OVER-CAPACITY SHELTER SURVIVOR: MEET TANNER! 🚨
When a crowded shelter ran out of time for this magnificent boy, we knew we couldn’t let his story end there. Even though he isn’t a Weimaraner, we called in the rescue angels to pull him from the euthanasia list—and we are so glad we did! To top it off, we had his DNA tested, and he is a 100% purebred, 3-year-old neutered Isabella (Fawn) Doberman Pinscher! 🤎
Tanner arrived as a stray and, like so many, tested positive for heartworms. But this resilient warrior has officially conquered his treatment, completed his quiet rest, and is fully cleared, healthy, and ready to find his ultimate forever family! (He will be retested in six months).

The Total Package (With a Dash of Puppy Energy!)
At 3 years old, Tanner is at that prime age where he is eager to please but still full of youthful, vibrant life. He is an absolute speed demon who can run like the wind in an open field! He has a beautifully docked tail paired with soft, natural floppy ears that bounce when he runs.

Life in His Foster Home:
• The Ultimate Shadow: Tanner’s favorite place to be is exactly where you are. He will happily follow you from room to room just to be close. In fact, if left outside, he will jump a 4’ fence to get to his people.
• Excellent Pack Member: He shares a home with two Weimaraner brothers and a GSP. He mastered the dog door instantly and eats his meals peacefully right alongside his brothers with zero food aggression.
• The Toy Thief: While he is incredibly sweet with other dogs, he will playfully steal a toy right out of another dog's mouth if he wants it!
• Grounded Sleeper: He sleeps soundly all night long in his dog bed right next to his foster human. He hasn't even tried to climb onto the big bed, though he does appreciate a good cuddle session on the sofa! Tanner prefers to cuddle on his terms, so no “in your face” cuddles.
• Good Citizen in Training: He alerts to the doorbell to let you know guests have arrived, but he is entirely welcoming and never aggressive to visitors.

Tanner’s Wish List for His Forever Home:
• Secure Fencing: This athletic boy can clear a 4-foot fence when motivated, so a 6’, secure fence or supervised yard time is a must.
• Clear Counters: Tanner is a bit of a counter-surfer if delicious things are left within reach (his foster mom says it's great motivation to keep the kitchen tidy!).
• Older Kids Only: Because he is still a strong, rambunctious youngster, he would be best suited for a home without small children.
• Leash & Obedience School: He does pull on the leash and will need a family excited to work with him on basic obedience and manners. He is incredibly smart and learns fast!
• Felines? Tanner has not been cat-tested yet.

Tanner would thrive beautifully as an only dog soaking up all your attention, or he would seamlessly fit into a home with a balanced canine pack. He is going to make the most loyal, perfect companion for one very lucky person. Tanner is a real head-turner!!!

Single Female Weim looking for her Permanent Foster Family!

Meet Miss Dickens!

Dickens is a 13-year-old sweetheart that came into rescue because her owner, sadly, was moved to a memory care facility. Dicken’s family was heartbroken but after a trial stay, their own dogs were not welcoming to her, so they felt she would be more comfortable in a quieter home with other dogs and humans that were more her pace.

As a 13-year-old Weim, you can probably guess that she has the usual lumps and bumps that older Weims get, so she won’t win any swimsuit contests, but her long ears and soulful eyes will draw you in! She has a quiet personality and will take some time to relax in her new environment – which isn’t surprising because she lost both the home and the person that was “hers” since the beginning and she’s not sure what to expect in new environments. She has adapted very well to her foster home and even tolerates the antics of her foster Weim brother who can be bouncy and excitable!

She is also a bit unsteady on slick services like hardwood floors, tile and smooth surface decking, so it will be important that her new home be able to provide her with flooring (carpet and/or rugs) that will help her “grip” the floor to get around the house, as well as, minimal stairs to navigate. Once she is on grass or even sidewalk/street, she’s slow, but manages great! She LOVES to take a walk and great on a leash. Her foster mom takes her for a walk daily and it seem to be Dickens’ favorite part of the day! She is a great sniffer and loves to “hunt” around the back yard – even if her years of getting the “critter” are over, she enjoys the scent tracking!

Dickens does have Cushing’s Disease which is controlled by medication and is stable on her meds. She does not pant, drink excessively or have accidents. She doesn’t require crating and has been great when left alone up to 5 hours.

Because of her advanced age and health, Dickens is part of our Permanent Foster Home/Sanctuary Program – which means the Atlanta Weim Club Rescue will provide medical care, medications and anything else she needs to support her health and quality of life for the remainder of her time. We ask our permanent fosters to provide a loving home, food, water, flea & tick prevention and to be available to bring her to vet visits both scheduled and if emergent.

The village is working overtime, and it shows! Keeping up with multiple Weims—plus throwing a surprise Isabella Doberman like Tanner into the mix—is no small feat. Between managing complex logistics, coordinating ground transports, and scheduling vet visits, we are doing all we can. We are working around the clock to give these dogs everything they need to heal, thrive, and get ready for their forever families.

We couldn’t do any of this without our amazing village of transporters, fosters, and supporters. Thank you for standing by us while we’ve been busy doing the fieldwork!

Pablo is officially in a foster home! 🐾❤️

Talk about a rollercoaster of a journey! After the heartbreak of losing the only family he ever knew, this sweet 11.5-year-old senior boy has been through a whirlwind. From a scary, loud shelter to a cancelled flight due to bad weather, Pablo's luck finally turned when two amazing volunteers stepped up to drive him out of the shelter.

After spending several days at our rescue vet getting thoroughly checked out and treated, he got the green light to leave. Today, he is finally resting his head in a wonderful foster home. He is being spoiled by a dedicated family who has been a cherished part of our rescue community for a very long time. We know they will give him all the love, comfort, and specialized care he deserves.

It takes a village to save a senior dog, and we are so incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in getting Pablo to safety. Welcome to the good life, sweet boy! ✨

And yet another senior sweet lady in our care... meet Dickens! 🐾

This lovely 13-year-old girl recently found herself in rescue after her owner could no longer care for her. While it breaks our hearts to see a senior pup have to transition to a new chapter, we knew we couldn't say no when her family asked for help. Dickens has some very expensive medical issues, but we believe every senior deserves a soft place to land and a village to fight for them.

Her foster mom already reports that she is absolutely the "best girl" and such a gentle soul. Dickens is currently resting comfortably, soaking up all the love she deserves, and proving that age is just a number when it comes to capturing hearts. Welcome to the family, sweet Dickens! We've got you now. ❤️

🚨 MEDICAL UPDATE: MEET PEBBLES 🐾

Pebbles is a beautiful 5-year-old girl who urgently needs our help. Surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for her, Pebbles is currently in a loving foster home but remains on medical hold.

After multiple visits to a regular veterinarian, her underlying medical issues remain undiagnosed. To get her the answers and relief she deserves, her next vital step is a diagnostic evaluation with a veterinary specialist. As many rescue advocates know, specialist care comes with significant, compounding expenses—but we made a solemn promise to Pebbles that we would never give up on her.

And, of course you all remember Tanner, fka Gabe!!!!

Yep, he’s a purebred Doberman Pinscher, and he came to us from a North Georgia shelter! 🐾❤️

Tanner is officially completing his quiet time after heartworm treatment and is doing great in his foster home, where he is absolutely enjoying his foster Weim brothers!

As many of you know, heartworm treatment is not only incredibly painful for these sweet pups, but it is also highly expensive (not to mention his neuter surgery)! When we were first contacted by the shelter letting us know that Tanner urgently needed out, we didn't hesitate for a second—we immediately called in the rescue angels.👼✨

But the surprises didn't stop there! Little did we know at the time that he is actually a rare Isabella Doberman! 🌟 (For those who don't know, Isabella is a beautiful, unique fawn color with a stunning silvery-lavender sheen!).

We are so grateful to his foster family for giving him the perfect place to heal and decompress. Stay tuned for more updates on this gorgeous, resilient boy as he gets ready for the next chapter of his life! 💙

Pablo is on the road!!!

As you may remember, Pablo's flight was cancelled last Friday due to bad weather, but tomorrow he is going to finally make his way to Atlanta thanks to some amazing volunteers...
..and we could not be more grateful for the incredible community that stepped up to make it happen.
After the heartbreaking setback of a grounded flight, our sweet 11.5-year-old Weimaraner is finally back on the move. When logistics fall through, it truly takes a dedicated village to keep a senior rescue dog moving toward safety, and this team proved exactly how powerful that network can be.
Tomorrow morning, Pablo will begin his ground journey from the shelter in Manchester, Tennessee, making his way down to Georgia. From the coordinators completely rearranging the travel schedule to the drivers stepping up for each leg of the trip, every single volunteer has shown incredible dedication.
The next stop will be getting this wonderful senior safely settled, looked after by the veterinary team, and surrounded by the comfort he deserves. Thank you to everyone who shared his story, offered a ride, and refused to let bad weather stand in the way of his freedom ride. Stay tuned for updates as he officially completes his journey to safety.

TRANSPORT HELP NEEDED!!!
Unfortunately, Pablo's flight was cancelled due to bad weather this morning. Now we are praying for a ride for Pablo. It's heartbreaking that he's still at the shelter in Manchester, Tn, but the good news is we have a ride for him on Monday, October 19th, from the shelter to the Bucees in Adairsville, GA ( 601 Union Grove Rd., SE) to arrive a 9-9:30 am EST. Pablo is looking for someone to pick him up in Adairsville and take him to Woodstock Vet Hospital (607 Mauldin Drive, Woodstock, GA 30188).
