Did you know most pet rabbits bought at Easter don't make it to their first birthday? They either fall ill from neglect or are dumped in the 'wild' by people who think they can fend for themselves. If you're thinking of getting someone a bunny for Easter, consider grabbing one of the chocolate variety instead 🍫😉

Outdoor cat enclosures or “catios,” have become VERY popular in recent years as a way to safely give indoor cats a taste of the great outdoors- while keeping them safe & contained.
Catios can range from roofed dog kennels, to actual enclosed patios, to window "catios". Do you have a "catio" for your cats? Post a photo below so we can all admire your work!

Does your dog LOVE to dig? Do they LOVE to find hidden toys & treats?
If so a DIY "dig box" may just be the perfect enrichment activity!
Follow the steps below to give it a go!
1. Choose a Container- We recommend using a large plastic kiddie pool, a sturdy container, or even a repurposed sandbox.
2. Fill with Substrate- We recommend using play sand, which is pet safe and less messy than dirt alternatives.
3. Bury the Treasure!- Bury your dog's favorite toys, treats, and bones in the sand.
4. Encourage Digging-When your dog digs in the box, praise and reward them, this will let them know that digging in the box is good!

Additional Tips & Tricks:
*Choose a location that is shaded or has access to shade, especially during hot weather. *Always supervise your dog while they are using the dig box, especially if they are prone to chewing or swallowing items.
*Consider putting a lid to keep the sand contained & clean when not in use

Introducing the April Pets of the Month!
Hello- we are Silky and Velveteen! We're both brothers and roomates and have been best friends since shortly after birth. (Depsite our littermate status- we did still have to go through the bonding process) A perfect day for us consists of lounging under our Mom's futon, playing with toys and -of course- eating our favorite snacks! We are passionate about food but our favorites include bananas, carrots and celery! Don't worry, Mom makes sure we only get the recommended amount of treats, but we get to munch away on hay and lettuce. Last month we celebrated our 6th birthday, Mom spoiled us with attention, toys and snacks- she is the best!

Today is Respect Your Cat Day! Everyone, including kittens and cats, wants to be treated with respect. Respect involves observing, listening and recognizing another’s needs and boundaries.
Celebrate today by doing any- or all!- of the following:
-Provide a safe and comfortable environment: Make sure your cat has access to a clean litter box, fresh water, and a comfortable place to rest.
-Play with them: Cats need mental and physical stimulation. Play with them regularly using toys they enjoy.
-Respect their boundaries: If your cat doesn't want to be touched, don't force it. Always leave them a way to escape if they feel uncomfortable.
-Feed a healthy diet: Ensure that your cat is being fed a balanced diet that works for them! Consider adding treat puzzles and slow feeders for enrichment.
-Schedule regular veterinary check-ups: Making sure your cat remains happy and healthy, and up to date on core vaccines is a great way to show them respect!
