🚨 ER Spotlight: Fletcher 🚨

Meet Fletcher, a sweet (and very spotted!) Dalmatian who recently came to Peak Paws Advanced Veterinary Hospital for an emergency after he became unable to urinate. This is a serious and painful condition that can quickly become life-threatening if not treated right away.

After evaluation, Fletcher required an emergency cystotomy (bladder surgery) to remove the obstruction and help him get relief. We’re happy to report he is on the road to recovery! 💙🐾

🖤🤍 Dalmatian Fun Fact 🤍🖤:
Dalmatians are known to be prone to urinary issues, especially bladder stones, due to how their bodies process uric acid. Because of this, they may be at higher risk for urinary blockages and should be monitored closely for any changes in urination habits.

⚠️ Signs of a possible urinary blockage include:
• Straining to urinate
• Frequent attempts with little or no urine produced
• Crying or discomfort while urinating
• Lethargy or vomiting

If your pet ever shows these symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately. This is an emergency.

Fletcher was such a pleasure to work with, and we’re grateful his family trusted us with his care. 💕🐶

🐾 Rehab Patient Spotlight: Oreo! 🐾

Meet Oreo, an adorable Maltipoo who has been part of our Peak Paws Rehab family for just over a year! 💚 Oreo has been working hard in rehabilitation to help manage IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) and luxating patellas.

Oreo comes to see us weekly for his rehab routine, which includes gym exercises and underwater treadmill sessions to help build strength, improve mobility, and keep him feeling his best. 💪🌊

🎉 Fun Fact About Oreo: Every year for his birthday, Oreo’s mom goes all out. She picks a special birthday theme, dresses Oreo up to match, and even orders a cake that fits the theme perfectly! His mom shared some of the pictures from his previous birthdays with us (he just celebrated his 7th birthday) and we think they are absolutely adorable!🥳🎂

We’re so proud of Oreo and honored to be part of his journey. Keep up the amazing work, Oreo! 🐶✨

Meet Piglet, an adorable puppy who recently came to Peak Paws Advanced Veterinary Hospital for an emergency visit after getting into something he definitely shouldn’t have.

Piglet was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal foreign body, meaning an object became stuck in his digestive tract and required surgical removal. Foreign bodies can quickly become very serious, causing pain, vomiting, blockage, and even damage to the intestines if not treated promptly.

Our emergency team acted quickly, and Piglet underwent foreign body surgery to safely remove the obstruction.

We’re happy to report that Piglet did great and is now on the road to recovery. He's ready to get back to being the playful, curious puppy he was born to be.

If your pet is vomiting, not eating, acting painful, or you suspect they swallowed something, don’t wait. Our ER team is here to help 24/7. 🐾💛

🐱 Patient Spotlight: Ziggy 🐱

Meet Ziggy, an absolute sweetheart who recently visited Peak Paws Advanced Veterinary Hospital for an urgent medical emergency.

Ziggy came in for a urinary blockage, which can quickly become life-threatening if not treated right away. Our team worked quickly to relieve the obstruction, and Ziggy stayed with us for a couple of days afterward so he could receive supportive care, monitoring, and continued treatment to help him recover safely and comfortably.

We’re happy to report Ziggy did great during his hospital stay—and he was truly the sweetest boy, winning over everyone with his gentle personality and cuddly charm. 🥰

We’re so glad we could help Ziggy feel better and get back home where he belongs. 💙

☀️🐍 Warmer Weather = More Snakes Out! Watch for Copperhead Bites 🐍☀️

As temperatures rise, copperhead snakes become more active—and that means our pets are at higher risk of an unexpected encounter on walks, hikes, or even in the backyard.

⚠️ Copperhead bites can be serious and should always be treated as an emergency. Even if symptoms seem mild at first, venom effects can worsen quickly.⚠️

🐶🐱 Signs your pet may have been bitten include:🐱🐶
• Sudden swelling (often on the face, leg, or paw)
• Pain or limping
• Puncture wounds
• Bleeding or bruising
• Lethargy or weakness

🚨 If you suspect a snake bite: 🚨
✅ Keep your pet calm and limit movement
❌ Do NOT apply a tourniquet
❌ Do NOT attempt to suck out venom
❌ Do NOT apply ice
📞 Call us immediately and head to the hospital

The sooner treatment begins, the better the outcome.

🌿 Prevention Tips:
• Avoid tall grass and wooded brush
• Keep yards trimmed and free of debris
• Watch where pets sniff or explore

📍 If your pet may have been bitten, don’t wait—Peak Paws Advanced Veterinary Hospital is here to help.

📞 Call us right away if you suspect a copperhead bite.
