With 4th of July around the corner and thunderstorm season upon us, please remember to pick up a calming medication for your pet to make them feel comfortable during these loud noise moments.

Noise phobia can be very scary for a lot of pets and we have multiple effective options available, including Sileo gel.

Don’t wait and give us a call to get your pet’s prescription before the holiday.

***Heat Advisory: High risk for Heat stroke and burnt pads for our pets***

During these extremely hot days, please remember that our pets cannot dissipate heat the way we do, they cannot sweat and mostly disperse heat through panting, which is not very efficient, even worse for our “short snout” friends or brachycephalics.

Heat stroke is a life threatening condition when our pets overheat!!

Tios to prevent heat stroke:
* Please do not leave your pets inside of a car, even with the windows cracked open

* Do not let them outside unattended, keep them in the shade and with plenty of fresh water.

* Walk outside early in the morning or late in the evenings when the temperatures are not as high and keep the walka to a shorter time.

Signs of heat stroke include:
* collapse
* disorientation
* seizures
* red or brown gums
* difficulty breathing, raspy breathing, and/or heavy panting

Also, remember that if the ground temperature is too hot for you is also too hot for them. Do not walk yournpetnon hot asphalt or surfaces!

If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke please take them to the vet hospital ASAP.

We’re excited to announce that we have a new doctor joining our Happy Tails Team!! Please welcome Dr. Fabi Marin, who is a recent graduate of the North Carolina State Veterinary School. Dr. Marin is not new to our Happy Tails family as she worked as a veterinary assistant before and during vet school with us and has received mentoring from Dr. Catala and Dr. Rodriguez throughout this time. We’re very happy to have her join us officially as a veterinarian now and she will start seeing patients June 18 💚. We have attached a short bio for Dr. Marin:

“Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Fabi moved to North Carolina in 2019 to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2025. Fabi lives with her fiancé Kenneth and their dachshund, Milo (she’s a little obsessed with this breed). She also has a soft spot for Dobermans and enjoys working with nearly all kinds of companion animals.

Fabi has a special interest in ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery, and she’s excited to continue developing her clinical skills as a recent graduate. She also has a love for marine sciences and marine animals, inspired by her Caribbean roots. When she’s not in the clinic, you can usually find her outside at the beach, soaking up the sun, or enjoying a good workout in the warm weather”
