When formulating the optimal layer diet, adequate manganese is critical for production and animal health. This essential trace mineral supports eggshell formation, bone development, metabolism, immunity, and reproductive performance. Deficiency may cause poor egg production, weak bones, reduced hatchability, and inferior shell quality.

Heat stress reminds us that performance isn’t just about keeping cattle cool, it’s about helping them to keep eating. One thing we’ve consistently seen in Zinmet® research is that during periods of high heat stress, cattle maintained intake better than controls. When intake stays more consistent, performance often follows. It’s another reminder that trace mineral nutrition plays an important role when cattle are challenged by summer conditions.
