☀️🐾 Beat the Heat: Keep Your Pets Safe This Summer! 🐾☀️

As temperatures rise, our furry friends are at greater risk for heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Pets can overheat quickly, even on days that don't seem excessively hot.

🌡️ Tips to Keep Your Pet Cool:
💧 Always provide access to fresh, cool water
🏡 Keep pets indoors during the hottest parts of the day
🌳 Walk during early morning or evening hours
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car—even for a minute
🐾 Check pavement temperature before walks
🧊 Offer cooling mats, fans, or frozen treats for extra comfort

⚠️ Signs of Heatstroke:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Collapse or seizures

If you suspect your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area, offer water, and seek veterinary care immediately.

Let's work together to keep our pets safe, happy, and cool all summer long! ❤️🐶🐱

Many pets experience fear, stress, or anxiety when coming to the vet—and that can make exams harder for both pets and their families.
That’s why your veterinarian may recommend pre-visit medications such as Gabapentin and Trazodone.

These medications are commonly used to help reduce anxiety and improve comfort before appointments, especially for pets who are:
-Nervous or fearful at the vet
-Difficult to examine due to stress
-Still recovering from pain or chronic discomfort
-Cats or dogs with past negative clinic experiences

When used as directed by your veterinarian, these medications may help:
-Reduce anxiety and stress responses
-Make handling and exams safer and smoother for both your pet and our staff
-Improve the accuracy of medical assessments
-Create a more positive overall clinic experience

Although every pet is different, and our team will determine the right protocol and timing for your pet’s specific needs.
If your pet struggles with vet visits, ask us about pre-visit calming options—we’re here to help make appointments easier for everyone involved.

🐾 Dr. Gholston was able to save sweet Blue Bell’s leg and avoid amputation by repairing her fracture! While her recovery journey will require lots of rest and includes frequent bandage changes here at MAH, Blue Bell has become quite the favorite around the clinic. 💙 She’s settled right in with our team and seems to be loving all of her custom vet wrap artwork along the way!
We’re so proud of this sweet girl and can’t wait to watch her continue to heal! ✨
