☀️ : Hot, humid weather can become dangerous for pets quickly. Keep outdoor activity shorter during the hottest parts of the day, provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and NEVER leave a pet unattended in a parked car. Watch for signs of overheating:

🐾 Excessive or frantic panting
🐾 Heavy drooling
🐾 Bright red or pale gums
🐾 Weakness, stumbling, or confusion
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Collapse or difficulty breathing

(Extra caution for flat-faced breeds: Brachycephalic dogs—including French Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boxers—can overheat much faster because their shortened airways make it harder to cool themselves effectively through panting. Keep exercise especially limited on hot or humid days.)

🚨 When to call: If your pet is weak, vomiting, confused, struggling to breathe, collapsing, or showing significant signs of overheating, move them somewhere cool, begin cooling with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact a veterinarian or emergency hospital immediately.

Lucy (left) and Penny Lane (right) stopped by Edgewater Animal Hospital for their annual wellness exams and vaccines, and they were as adorable as ever! From their matching bows to their sweet personalities, these two certainly know how to brighten our day.

Annual wellness visits are one of the best ways to keep your pet healthy. They give us the opportunity to monitor overall health, stay up to date on vaccinations, catch potential concerns early, and help your furry family members enjoy many happy, healthy years ahead.

💙🐱 : Sabine was a superstar during her kitten visit at Edgewater Animal Hospital! With a little help from a tasty Churu treat and the gentle care of our veterinary technician, Imani, her visit was calm, low-stress, and full of positive experiences.

Helping kittens build happy associations with veterinary visits early in life can make future appointments much easier—for both pets and their families. Great job, Sabine! We can't wait to watch you grow!

We're proud to partner with an amazing local Girl Scout troop to support the Forsyth County Humane Society and the Community Pet Pantry!

You can help make a difference by dropping off:
🐶 New or gently used pet supplies
🥫 Unopened dog or cat food
🧸 Toys, beds, leashes, bowls, crates, and other pet essentials

Donations can be dropped off anytime during our regular business hours at Edgewater Animal Hospital. Every donation helps provide care and support for local pets and families in our community.

A huge thank you to Girl Scout Troop 23139 for organizing this wonderful service project! 💚
