In warm weather, blue-green algae can develop in local lakes and ponds. This algae can produce toxins that are dangerous and potentially fatal to pets if ingested. even just by swimming or licking their fur afterward.

Avoid letting pets swim in or drink from water that looks discolored. When in doubt, keep them out.

If you’re concerned your pet was exposed, contact Switzer Veterinary Clinic right away.
