Before you say "Yikes!"... let’s talk about the "fungus among us!" 🐾🍄

Did you know that "Ringworm" has nothing to do with worms? It is actually just a common, temporary skin fungus—exactly like athlete's foot in humans!

Sadly, cats with ringworm are often passed over or euthanized in shelters, but they are just as cuddly, playful, and deserving of a forever home as any other kitty.

Here is why it’s not scary:

It’s Very Treatable: With a simple routine of oral meds and medicated "spa" baths, it usually clears up completely in just 4 to 6 weeks.

Healing is Faster at Home: Cats heal much more quickly in a low-stress home environment than they do in a busy shelter.

You Can Still Snuggle: You don’t have to skip the love! Just wear a designated "snuggle shirt" or smock over your clothes and wash your hands afterward.

Simple Cleanup: Keeping your new friend in an easy-to-clean room (like a bathroom) and washing their bedding once a week keeps the spores from spreading.

By adopting a ringworm kitty, you aren't just getting a new best friend—you’re a hero giving a "second chance" to a cat that just needs a little extra TLC for a few weeks.

🐾 Help Our Cats Find Their Forever Homes! 🐾

Do you have a heart for felines and an hour to spare? We are looking for dependable, animal-loving volunteers to care for the adoptable cats currently staying at the Petco on Lomas Blvd.
Because these kitties are living in an enclosure, your visit is often the highlight of their day!
What’s Involved?

It only takes about 45–60 minutes once a day to make a huge difference. Your tasks would include:
• Feeding: Providing fresh food and water.
• Cleaning: Tidying up the kennels and scooping litter.
• Socializing: The best part! Brushing, playing, and giving them the love they need to stay happy and adoptable.

Current Openings
We are looking for coverage on the following days:
• 🗓️ Mondays
• 🗓️ Tuesdays
• 🗓️ Thursdays
• 🗓️ Fridays
• 🗓️ Sundays

Note: You can choose to cover just one specific day every week or multiple days if your schedule allows!

🐾 Urgent: Help Us Give This Puppy Family a Fresh Start! 🐾

Nine Lives Rescue has some big news—and an even bigger favor to ask our amazing community. We are officially welcoming two sweet female puppies into our care! One of which, has an Infected bite wound on her cheek.

While we are thrilled to get these girls on the path to their forever homes, their journey starts with a lot of coordination and medical care. To break the cycle and ensure this is the last "unplanned" litter for this family, we have committed to covering the costs for the entire family.

🆘 What We Need Help With:
• Puppy Fuel: We need high-quality puppy food to help these growing girls get strong and healthy.

• The "Big Fix": We aren't just vetting the puppies; we are also funding the spay and neuter surgeries for both Mom and Dad. This is the only way to ensure no more puppies end up in search of rescue.

• Puppy Wellness: Initial vaccines, deworming, and health checks for the two new arrivals.

To our wonderful Nine Lives Rescue community,
The team is taking today off to catch our breath and officially wrap up our 2025 season! Because of your support, we’ve been able to find so many "furever" homes this year, and we are spending today finishing up paperwork and prepping for an even bigger year ahead.

✨ New Arrival Alert: The "Intake Hold" Exception ✨

We told ourselves we were at capacity. We said "no more" until our current residents found homes. But then we saw Snow White and her seven tiny dwarfs, and our hearts (and our "hold" status) completely melted. ❄️🍎

Sitting in a crowded shelter in Las Cruces with seven nursing babies is no place for a queen, so we did what any animal lover would do—we cleared a spot, grabbed some extra blankets, and brought this royal family into safety.

Meet the Family:
• The Mama: Snow White – A total sweetheart who has been doing the hard work of raising seven kittens in a stressful shelter environment. She is gentle, patient, and finally getting the rest she deserves.

• The Seven Dwarfs: Seven growing babies that are approximately 5 weeks old. They are learning to explore the world around them.

How You Can Help:
Because this was an unplanned intake, we are officially bursting at the seams! Here is how you can support Snow White’s journey:
1. Pantry Reinforcements: Feeding a nursing mom and seven growing babies takes a lot of fuel. We are in urgent need of quality kitten food (wet and dry).
2. Sponsorship: If you can’t adopt, consider "virtually adopting" this family to help cover their upcoming vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries.
3. Share their story: Even if you can't foster or adopt, hitting that "share" button helps us find their forever "castles" when they’re ready!

Note: These babies aren't ready for adoption just yet—they need time to grow big and strong under Snow White's watchful eye. Stay tuned for individual updates as they grow! Snow White and the 7 babies will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption.

Join us for a creative evening to support local feline rescue! On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Painting with a Twist in Albuquerque is hosting a special "Paint with a Purpose" charity event.

Supporting a Great Cause:
