Chomper the tortoise has a very healthy diet of veggies and more veggies. We commend him, but we like cookies. And pies. And muffins.
Which brings us to the point of this post.
We need baked goods to sell for fundraising at the Boofy's Howl and Growl event at their Westside location on Sunday, Oct. 26. Can anyone help us out? We'll pick up your goodies on the evening of Oct. 25, as long as you live in the immediate Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area. If you can bake something to support the puppers, please DM us with what you want to make, how much and pickup address. Thank you!

Delilah is bummed that some of her doggie peers might not be getting the vaccines they need to stay healthy. For instance, rabies can be spread from mammal to mammal across species by contact with saliva of an infected animal. That means not only a bite but also a lick can pass it to your pet's from another animal and from your pets to your family before you know your pet starts showing symptoms. Don't take chances with this horrible disease! If your dogs or cats are due for shots, we have some of the lowest prices around. Hey friends,

Denim, our neighborhood consultant (and professional treat critic), stopped by today and had lots to say about our upcoming clinic. He couldn’t figure out why sign-ups are moving slower than his paw-dragging walk when it’s bath time.

I told him, “Patience, my friend.” He told me, “Patience doesn’t buy bones.” Point taken.

So, I promised I’d pass his message along: how can we spread the word better? We’ve got nearly 6k of you here—surely someone has a bright idea or knows the magic trick to get more tails through the door.

Every clinic helps protect pets from preventable illnesses, and all funds go right back into the community and animals in care. We can’t keep these going without your support.

It's been a very long journey, but our one-time coonhound mix puppy Onyx, now grown-up Inzo, has gone to an adoptive home. He came to PLR as a tiny nursing puppy with his mother and littermates in 2022, was adopted a few months later and then several months after that, landed in a local shelter after being found as a stray. We went and got him. We eventually transferred him to the American Black and Tan Coonhound Rescue, thinking he'd have an easier time finding a hound-savy home. Some things just take time, though. Now, 2-1/2 years later, a couple saw his picture, were struck by his soulful eyes and just had to make him part of their family. He rode up to Colorado to meet his new family Sunday, courtesy of a couple of volunteers. In addition to his new dog-smart mom and dad, he has a Lab sister, with another hound expected to be adopted soon. He also has a big back yard bordered by forests with lots of room to run, sniff and explore. Happy forever, Inzo!

UPDATE: Thank you all. What a great turn out. She has been successfully placed and will have a wonderful life. Her adopter (once fully fostered and vetted), already bought her name tag.

We are overwhelmed with the response and so thankful. 💛

We do still need some fosters coming up for a pregnant chi-pug in about a month. Please get your foster applications in so we call you soon!

‼️ Urgent ‼️ This little Chihuahua puppy needs a place to stay for the weekend.
She's a couple of months old.
We got her from an individual who's not in a great place in life and who, after being unable to sell the puppy, was going to leave her outside to die in the heat "so she won't suffer anymore in this life."
We'd rather keep her from suffering by taking care of her. We have a foster-to-adopt home available next week, but we need to get her through the weekend. We'll provide all supplies. If you can help, please DM us or email [email protected].
