🐾 Meet Zuzu! 🐾

This sweet girl came to see our board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Brad Lytle, because of a heart murmur, a large heart seen on x-ray, and less energy than usual. Dr. Lytle recommended a Holter monitor—a little portable device that records her heart’s rhythm to make sure her heart is pumping efficiently. ❤️

Our amazing cardiology team carefully prepped Zuzu for her monitor:
✨ Shaved a small patch of fur on her chest
✨ Attached ECG leads to track her heartbeat
✨ Secured everything with vet wrap
✨ Added a special vest to keep the monitor in place

And just like that… Zuzu was ready to go home with her stylish vest! 🦴💛 Most dogs get used to it so quickly, they hardly notice it’s there.

A few days later, Zuzu returned with her mom so Dr. Lytle could go over her results. This simple but powerful device has been saving countless lives—for nearly 70 years!

Meet Daisy, our gorgeous double cancer survivor! 💪🐾

She came to see our oncologist Dr. Diane Schrempp for a soft tissue sarcoma, but during her CT scan we also discovered a thyroid carcinoma. With the help of her amazing family and our specialists, Daisy powered through 18 radiation treatments for her soft tissue sarcoma and had her thyroid removed by our surgeon Dr. Emma Faulkner. ✨

Through it all, Daisy stayed the sweetest, most patient girl. 💜 We’re so proud of her strength and spirit — she truly gave cancer the paw! 🐾💥

Congrats, Daisy! 🌸🎓 ♥️

This happy boy is Rigby!

Rigby first came to our oncology service in 2024 after being diagnosed with prostatic carcinoma at another hospital. When his family moved to New Mexico, they entrusted his care to our oncologist, Dr. Diane Schrempp and her amazing team.

From day one, Rigby has been such a joyful spirit—always greeting the team with his big smile and making every visit brighter. On August 21st, Rigby was celebrated as a graduate of our oncology service in New Mexico!

Although he did not complete his chemotherapy, the oncology team wanted to honor Rigby’s courage, resilience, and the happiness he brought to every appointment.

Rigby and his family are now moving out of state, where he will continue his care. We’re so proud of this good little dude and wish him and his family nothing but the very best in their next chapter. 💙🐾

🐾✨ September is National Service Dog Month! ✨🐾

Since 2008, this month has celebrated the incredible ways service dogs change lives. From guiding those with vision loss, to alerting people with hearing impairments, to helping with mobility tasks like opening doors—these amazing dogs provide safety, independence, and confidence every single day. 💙

At K9s For Warriors, we’re proud to be part of this mission. We’ve paired more than 1,000 Veterans with a lifesaving service dog, and rescued over 2,000 dogs, giving them a second chance at life. 🐶❤️ As we like to say—we’re in the business of saving two lives: a dog and a Veteran. 🇺🇸
