As temperatures rise, heat-related illness becomes a serious risk for pets.

Dogs and cats can overheat much faster than people, especially during walks, outdoor play, or time spent in warm vehicles.

If your pet shows signs of overheating, move them to a cool area and contact your veterinarian immediately. Stay safe and help keep our furry family members cool this summer!

Future veterinary medicine professionals in the making!

Last week, our R.V.T., Lisa, hosted a special class for the next generation of animal lovers! The kids learned all about our veterinary clinic, the animals we see, and how we keep ourselves and our patients safe. Dandelion the tortoise was our special assistant for the day, and there were plenty of puppy snuggles to go around! 💕

Ear infections are one of the most common reasons pets (specifically dogs) visit the vet.
Signs like head shaking, scratching, odor, or redness can point to discomfort.
What causes these signs? A range from allergies, bacteria, or yeast, and all are treated differently.
Our doctors take a sample and look at it under the microscope (cytology) to diagnose the culprit.
Then we treat accordingly!

Fun fact: Unlike humans, dogs and cats have an “L” shaped ear canal, so we really have to get in there to see!

The stress of a sick/injured pet can be overwhelming, especially when you aren’t sure how severe the issue is. Here at Rio Bravo we have openings for same day urgent care appointments during those difficult times.

Enzo, one of our technician’s beloved dogs, has been missing for the last two days. He lives near Gibson and 98th and is on heart medication. Please keep an eye out and spread the word as his family misses him very much!

Chocolate may be a treat for us, but it can be very dangerous for your pets, especially dogs.
Dark and baking chocolate can be the most dangerous, so make sure to keep them out of reach.
Chocolate = Human bellies ONLY.
