Our favourite cross is Charolais over the Hereford X Friesian cows

The Friesian part provides exception milk production also adding frame.

Hereford is a maternal breed and crossing with the Charolais gives you hybrid vigour the best of both breeds.

Hybrid vigour occurs when crossbreeding two genetically distinct breeds results in offspring that outperform the average of their parents.

I was a bit shocked when I went out the morning this calf was born to see a red calf that resembled very close to a Hereford even though her mum is black.
But she has overtime faded out to this nice golden colouring confirming her true DNA. 😆

She weaned at 350kg and her super duper mum is back in calf as a rising 10 year old one of our first to calve.
