🐾 Adoption Update 🐾

Ozzy came to us a from a North Island rescue at the end of June. They contacted us to see if we had space, as Ozzy was really struggling with how busy the foster home was & they had nowhere else for him to go. Ozzy had limited exposure to the big wide world & he found everything overwhelming.

We had a foster who was going to have a couple of quiet-ish weeks at work, so he put his hand up for short term foster, which would give Ozzy time to decompress before we transferred him to another foster when needed.

Ozzy was quite nervous of new people initially & timid with some dogs. His foster was able to create a safe space at work where he could meet staff at a pace Ozzy was comfy with, then work up to meeting people at cafes, have dog play dates & generally be a happy young boy ❤️

After fostering 14 dogs, varying from 1 day stay up to a few months, the foster quickly worked out that Ozzy was the one that wouldn’t get away! There were 2 of his foster dogs that he wished he had adopted & Ozzy wasn’t going to be the next one to get away – he finally found his side kick!!

Ozzys new dad will keep fostering for us, with Ozzy being a great foster brother to teach them the ropes.

We couldn’t do what we do without fosters who open up their homes & hearts to the dogs that come through, & we do love a “foster fail” 🥰

Private Rehome - Bay of Plenty

Freya & Floki are two English Bullmastiffs that are looking for a home through no fault of their own.
They are 6 years old, desexed & vaccinated.
Freya is a female and Floki is a male.
Both are used to cats, kids and other dogs.
We would love to find them a home together but time is running out so would consider splitting them up to find them their perfect homes.
We would like them to go to a home where they will be allowed inside and treated like part of the family.
Currently in the Bay of Plenty in the North Island but transport can be arranged anywhere in NZ.
If you are able to offer one or both of these gentle giants a home then please contact Gemma with some information about yourself and what kind of home you can offer: [email protected]

$2042 ! 💰
That’s how much we spent on dog registrations in the past week! It’s a yearly cost that we obviously expect & try plan for but unexpected vet bills have snuck up to kick us in the butt & we’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
If you can spare a coffee or even just $2 this week - we would very much appreciate it. All the little amounts add up & really do make a huge difference.

Community Rehome - Christchurch

Daisy is looking for a forever home where she needs to be an only dog. She is roughly 45kg of adolescent energy, so will need a strong, confident owner.

Basic info, her birthday is 10/12/23, she is spayed, microchipped, her vaccines are up to date, and she recently had full bloods and urine done at the vet, and is in great health.

Daisy is a smart, sweet, cuddly girl who loves being with her humans. She is an inside girl who wants to sleep beside you on the couch, using your lap as a pillow. Her hobbies include chewing her chew toys, playing fetch, going for walks (she is generally very good on the lead), chasing the water out of the hose and having her head out the window on car rides. But mostly she loves food. She is very food motivated which makes training her easier.
She loves people, can be cautious of some men, is good with kids but doesn't realise her size. She has grown up with a tween/early teen boy and wags her whole bum at the boys she sees fishing on her afternoon walks.

Daisy is not fond of other dogs. She has learnt to walk past most dogs on the opposite side of the road without caring about them, but there are some dogs she really doesn't like. Especially high energy dogs or ones that bark.

She needs a 6 foot, fully fenced yard and again, needs to be an only dog. She hasn't lived with cats, and didn't really care about them when she was young, but since catching a rat and a hedgehog, she has taken more interest in cats on her walks.

If you would like more info about Daisy, or think you might be her forever humans, please contact me on 021 0329 224

Paddy’s Journey: From Abandoned Pup to Beloved Family Member
After the loss of our cherished dog Bear at the age of 15, our hearts were heavy. In our grief, we decided to open our hearts again and adopted a dog from Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue. That’s how we met Polar—a gentle and joyful bull breed who has brought immense happiness into our lives.
Polar's story began in Whakatāne, where he and his siblings were abandoned in a box at a shopping centre. The SPCA took the wee pups into their care and soon after send to CBBR. He was taken in by a loving foster family through the rescue, who provided him with the care and socialisation he needed. When we brought him into our home at 7months, he quickly became a cherished member of our family, fitting in seamlessly with our cat, Shelby.
Affectionately Paddy or Patrick when he's being mischievous, Paddy is a source of constant joy. His playful antics, like dragging firewood out of the woodshed, never fail to make us laugh. He's spoiled with love and attention, and his gentle nature and sense of humour brighten our days.
We are deeply grateful to Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue for rescuing Paddy and giving him a chance at a happy life. Their dedication to caring for and rehoming bull breed dogs is truly commendable. Paddy's transformation from an abandoned pup to a beloved family member is a testament to the incredible work they do.
Thank you for allowing us to share Paddy's story. We hope it inspires others to consider adoption and support the wonderful work of Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue.

We are a heartbroken team at the moment 💔

For the last month we have been trying to work out what was going on with Pinky. He wasnt sick as such, but his foster & the crew he walked with at the shelter twice a week knew he was “off”, he just wasnt himself. We began a process of elimination – vet check with full bloods done, then physio, vet again last Friday for xrays & an ultrasound of his belly, just to try to work out what could possibly be causing his occasional odd behaviour & just not seeming himself – everything came back fine, all in all, he was an extremely healthy dog.

On Thursday morning we received a video from his foster - he had gone downhill rapidly. It was clear he was very unwell & he was not coming out of this episode like he usually did when he had a quirky moment for a few seconds. He was rushed to the vet & after working through everything with the vet, it was determined the most likely cause was a brain tumour. He was not settling at all, even with medication, so the decision was made to put him to sleep. He was well enough to go back to his foster home for a short period for some cuddles & favourite foods before he was put down ❤️

Pinky wasnt even 5 years old yet. Its hard to know if his rough life before coming to us had any impact on his health, but we are so happy that he made his way to us. If you haven’t followed Pinys story with us, he was found wondering in the middle of nowhere, very emaciated. The hunter that found him kindly looked after him until we had space, that was 8 months ago. With his happy, fun personality you couldnt help love him & he was always showered in hugs when he came to the shelter for his socialisation walk, & he lapped it up!

He went into foster care 5 months ago where he was loved wholeheartedly, he got out on so many adventures, he was even the shop dog when they both went to work & loved greeting staff & customers. His favourite place in the fosters home was the couch, he pretty much claimed it as his spot! We are eternally grateful to his fosters, they welcomed him into their home & gave him the life he never had & made his last moments one of utmost love.

Rest In Peace Pinky ❤️💔

Community Rehome – Christchurch

Buddy is a 12yr old girl, she is looking for a home to rest her head. Both of her elderly owners are no longer able to look after her.

She is desexed, micro chipped, vaccinated & registered. She loves other dogs & is currently being looked after by someone who has 3 dogs. She is totally relaxed with little children, but hasnt had anything to do with cats.

She loves walks & has good energy level for a dog of her age. Only thing her minder has noticed is slight separation anxiety, but this is improving the more alone time they are giving her - she wasnt left alone much with her elderly owners, so is progressing well around this.

To find out more about Buddy contact Gerald 021 168 7727 or Lynn 020 409 27843
