This sweet young boy is Beau, he arrived with us from Waimakariri District Council yesterday. He was found at the Ashely River & no one claimed him!

He was lucky enough to head straight off to foster care with 2 older foster brothers & he is very respectful of the fact these old boys arent interested in playing with a silly kid. He has just had his vet check up & vaccinations which he took all in his stride, not much fazes this boy!

We cant wait for him to find his happy ever after ❤️

Recent arrivals - Hazel & Coco 💖
These 2 gorgeous girls (sisters) are recent arrivals from the CCC pound. They were found at 3 months old locked inside a crate together in a toilet in Hagley Park. After not being claimed they spent months in the pound waiting for adoption prospects that never came. We took Coco first, and Hazel 2 weeks later when we had another space come open & their reunion was so lovely to watch. Coco was especially shut down, hiding from any form of contact. It took a LOT of just sitting in her run quietly for her to come around. Now she greets us with tippy tappy toes & zoomies.
It’s been heart warming to watch them learn to trust & a lot of that has come from each other & the other shelter dogs. They both get a boost of confidence when there’s another dog around so they’ve been throughly enjoying group walks with the other shelter dogs.

Mr August - Bo**er 💙

This years calendar had a slightly different theme, with the majority of the dogs greeting you each month already being rehomed. Each month we will let you know a bit about each dog 🐾

Bo**er just so happened to not be rehomed very far at all … to me 💙

Bo**er & his brother Walter came in from a pound when they were only small. Both had surgery for hip dysplasia at only 15wks old & while recovering at home with us, the entire family fell in love with him. He slotted into the family like he’s always been here. Peanut is for playing with & Papa is for cuddling. Bo**er just adores his big brother & must always be touching him when they’re sleeping.

He hangs out at the rescue regularly & loves to go on walks with the shelter dogs, visit hospice & rest homes for snuggles or be the CBBR rep picking up donations in the van.

He’s the perfect mix of brick sh*****se Rambo & a care bear. Our family wouldn’t be the same without him & he keeps us constantly entertained with all 2 of his brain cells 💙💙

🐾 George Update 🐾

It has been a week since George had his surgery & this boy has bounced back amazingly! He did manage to be a bit sneaky & get it tongue around the blow up collar to lick the wound, so now he has an extra special cone of shame 😆

The team at Avonside Wainoni Vet are extremely happy with his progress & he is due for stitches to come out in another week!

His foster said that he is still napping a lot, but is now more active outside & his wonderful personality is coming through. This boy is going to make a fantastic addition to someones home ❤️

During the course, the students are asked to form & implement a business idea, with the proceeds being donated to a charity of their choice & they have chosen CBBR! This is a great way to support trainee bakers & the dogs at the same time 😍

New arrivals ❤️

Hey hoomans! 🐾 We’re Amber and Lilly, and we’re 9 whole weeks old — that perfect age where we’re super cute, a little clumsy, and full of puppy kisses.

People say we’re crosses, but we’re not sure what with… maybe Squishmallows? We’ve both got these adorable little crinkles on our faces — our foster mummy calls them “love lines,” which is just fancy talk for extra snuggly. ❤️

Right now we’re living in Christchurch with a suuuper cool foster family. There are two big doggos teaching us all the good stuff — and a tiny fluffy creature we call Swiper (she swipes at us whenever we zoom too close… pretty sure that’s not her real name though).

Amber says: I’m a gentle soul with a sprinkle of sass — cuddly, sweet, and always ready to follow you around, but I’ll let you know when I’ve got my own ideas too!

Lilly says, My foster mummy says I have the most angelic eyes… but don’t be fooled — I’m no pushover! I’m feisty, funny, and full of personality. (Basically, I keep everyone on their toes and I’m hilarious while doing it.)

We came up from South Canterbury with our sibbies a few weeks ago, and while we really love it here — the cuddles, toys, and yummy food — what we want most is forever homes of our very own with hoomans to love and kiss forever and ever.

If you’re looking for puppy snuggles, waggy tails, and happy chaos (the fun kind!), maybe we should meet?

New arrival - Honey is a recent arrival from a North Island pound. She is 4 years old & by the looks of her poor body has been bred from on near every season she’s had.
She is a sweet natured girl who loves a snuggle & couch time. Last week she was spayed & is currently getting some R&R in one of our amazing respite foster homes.

George Update 🥰

George had surgery yesterday to remove his rear leg that was causing him issues. He got a big run around before heading off to the vet & was there for the day. When we picked him up that evening he was pretty drugged up, by happily hopping along on 3 legs!

He went straight off to a foster home from the vets so he could recover with home comforts, in front of the fire! He wanted to sleep in the lounge, so his amazing foster slept on the couch to monitor him & his pain levels. He went to the vet for a check up today & other than being slightly swollen, he was doing great! He will be back at the vet on Saturday for another check up.

In between getting some fresh air outside today, he cuddles up with pillows & blankets - nothing like a bit of extra TLC for recovery ❤️

🐾 ADOPT ME 🐾

Kiki is one sweet girl! She was lucky enough to head straight off to a foster home after arriving with us from the North Island.

She has slotted into home life like she has always been there, the foster has had no issues with her integrating into the home at all - they said she will make someone a fantastic companion!

She is a dream on lead, wonderful with other dogs & fantastic with people - you couldn't get a easier, happier, fun dog!

She is nearly 6 years old, so is through all the silly stages & looking for a best mate to have a happy ever after with - could that be you?

She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, registered & like all our dogs are destined to be family dog that sleeps indoors with the rest of the family.
