📣 Puppies Before Profit – Bring in Breeder Laws! 📣

Today, we’re launching our Puppies Before Profit campaign, to raise awareness around New Zealand’s lack of dog breeding legislation and to build support for law reforms.

Currently, we’re FAR behind other countries when it comes to dog breeding laws. In New Zealand:

🐾 Anyone can breed and sell puppies
🐾 There are no restrictions on the number of breeding dogs a person can keep
🐾 There are no minimum supervision levels
🐾 There are no minimum or maximum ages for breeding
🐾 There are no maximum number of litters across a dog’s lifetime
🐾 There are no restrictions on close inbreeding.

Despite the current lack of specific rules, our recently commissioned survey found that 96% of New Zealanders think dog breeding should be regulated.

This isn’t a niche animal welfare issue. It’s something that New Zealanders deeply care about. We need clear, enforceable standards that apply to all breeders, and ensure every breeding dog receives appropriate care ❤️

Meet Sozin! ❤

Long ago, the four nations lived in harmony. Then Sozin arrived... and quietly hid behind the nearest cat tree.

Unlike his famous namesake, this little Sozin has no plans for world domination. In fact, he'd much rather rule a cozy blanket fort and maybe conquer a feather toy or two.

Like a young firebender learning to control his flame, Sozin's confidence grows a little more each day. He enjoys playing with toys, exploring his surroundings, and watching the world from a safe perch before deciding it's time to join the action.

Pumpkin came to us after he had a run in with an over eager cat 😰

Meet the shy little guinea pig with the sweetest personality. He's looking for a loving home with some guinea pig friends to help build his confidence and show him the ropes.

Pumpkin absolutely loves fresh veggies, munching on grass, and making the cutest little squeaks when he's excited for snacks. While he can be a little timid at first, with patience and gentle care he's sure to blossom.
