From 9.2kg to 7.5kg—and still a foodie. 🐾

Meet Sammie, a domestic long-haired cat with a big appetite. This is his real-life weight-management story.

THE PROBLEM
At six years old, Sammie weighed 9.2kg. He needed to lose weight before it became a health concern.

THE CHANGE
Sammie swapped his dry food for a raw diet, starting with lamb, chicken and heart mince mixed with his favourite diced rabbit. Once he was comfortable with those flavours, other meats were gradually introduced.

THE RESULT
Over about a year, Sammie’s weight came down to 7.5kg—a loss of 1.7kg. Six years on, Sammie is still enjoying his raw food and maintaining his slimmer shape.

WHY THE FEEDING PLAN MATTERS
Weight management involves more than simply putting less food in the bowl. Calories matter, but so do nutritional balance, activity and your pet’s individual needs. Adequate protein can help preserve muscle during weight loss and help pets feel satisfied. The aim is gradual progress with a balanced diet and portions suited to your pet.

Every cat’s needs are different. A healthy target weight and a gradual weight-loss plan does not need to be “too hard to achieve”.

Meet bone broth — made by slowly cooking bones and connective tissues to create a gelatinous broth for your cat or dog.

It’s a simple way to add flavour, moisture and variety to their meals, alongside their usual balanced diet. And ours contains no additives or preservatives! 🙌

Our Raw Essentials range comes in **350ml and 500ml sizes**, with four flavour options:

🐔 Chicken & duck
🐑 Lamb
🐟 Salmon
🦌 Venison & goat

**Easy to serve:** offer on its own or add to their meal, warm or cold. Defrost in the fridge, keep refrigerated and follow the pack’s storage instructions.

Meet Laika, a much-loved rescue girl with a sensitive puku 🐾💚

“We found Prey Pet Food | Rotorua after months of struggling with our rescue GSP cross Laika’s digestive health. There had been vet visits, surgery and illness, and her grumbling stomach often kept us up at night. We were desperate to help her feel better.

Natasha put together a raw feeding plan tailored to Laika’s needs and supported us through investigating her ongoing health issues. She took the time to understand Laika’s medical history, organised diagnostic testing and sought input from the wider team.

But what really stood out was how much she cared. Natasha patiently answered our questions, generously shared her time and celebrated Laika’s progress with us — even the bowel movement updates!

Now, Laika’s sensitive puku is under control. She’s more settled at night, has a shiny coat, heaps of energy and healthy bowel movements. And she absolutely loves her raw food!

After months of worry, it felt like we finally had a whole team supporting us.

Learning together to better support your pets 🐾💚

Last night, we welcomed Rebecca Brown from Raw Essentials for a staff training session exploring different health conditions and considerations around raw feeding.

We discussed kidney disease, diabetes, pancreatitis, cystitis, obesity and arthritis, alongside the importance of gut health and how it can be influenced by factors such as stress, medications and diet.

Every pet has different needs. For pets with a diagnosed health condition, dietary changes should be guided by their vet.

A big thank you to Rebecca for sharing her knowledge, and to our team for continuing to learn and asking thoughtful questions. 💚
