✨🐾 Schnauzer S.O.S. 🐾✨
Leonard is a Miniature Schnauzer x Terrier, just one year old, and until today had never visited a grooming salon because his wonderful mum has done an amazing job keeping him looking snazzy.
As the seasons change, so does the coat. The undercoat begins to build up, tangles form, and before you know it, matting arrives. It all became a little overwhelming, so some professional help was needed.
Leonard had quite a few areas of matted undercoat, and Mum requested a fresh start - whatever I recommend. After taking a closer look, I decided that if Leonard would tolerate it, I would try to save as much of his coat as possible by carefully brushing out the worst of the matting.
🛁 Terrier-type coats can be tricky, with a harsh outer coat and a soft, fluffy undercoat. Being a mixed breed, Leonard had a combination of both throughout his coat. He enjoyed a thorough cleanse with Smith & Burton Soothing Shampoo, followed by a deeply hydrating conditioning treatment to restore moisture and help release the matting.
💨 Leonard wasn't a fan of the high-velocity dryer, so we worked around that. With both stand dryers running, I carefully brushed and combed through his coat until the comb glided smoothly from root to tip.
✂️ No clippers were needed today. Instead, he received a full scissor tidy to neaten him up while preserving his coat. The face was strictly off-limits—baby steps!
You look incredibly handsome, Leonard. Your mum is an absolute superstar for keeping on top of your coat and knowing when to ask for help.
