Our team members Alicya & Kaela had a great time hosting a dog behaviour and safety presentation for the Rolleston Kea Scout Group. A big thank you to the scouts for inviting us out to do this presentation. The Kea's all did very well learning about dog behaviour and practising how to safely interact with dogs 🐾🐶

Over the long weekend we went for a big walk around the CBD with several of our staff dogs.
Town was very busy so it was a great opportunity to practise training around all sorts of distractions, especially for the younger dogs in the group. We all had a lot of fun! 12 dogs in total between all of us 🐾

This German Shepherd is currently completing a Board & Train program with us to work on some pretty intense leash reactivity towards dogs, leash walking, obedience skills, calmness in public and general manners. He used to explode with intense barking and lunging when encountering other dogs. In busy or new environments, his ears would completely switch off and he would hype himself up to the point where he couldn't settle himself back down. All of this made him quite a handful on his walks understandably!
He is a really cool dog and is already making amazing progress with his training. There is still work to be done, but he is now walking far more politely on leash with a calmer mindset, listening in new/busy environments and his reactivity towards dogs has already improved significantly. We can't wait to see how he continues to progress throughout the course of his training with us 🐾

a big thank you to Hamilton Adopt a Dog and
Fundraising for Impounded Dogs - New Zealand for helping to get this gorgeous german shepherd boy down to us for some much needed training and rehabilitation.
Unfortunately he hasn’t had a great start to his life and is now experiencing the world for the first time, which has been a bit overwhelming for him. He is a lovely dog but needs some training under his belt before we can find him his forever home. We are working on getting him socialised with dogs & people and exposed to the outside world. He is doing well with his training so far but still needs quite a bit of work before he will be available for adoption. We look forward to continuing with his training so that he can eventually find his forever family ❤️🐾

We recently conducted a full day training workshop for the Waimakariri District Council. We worked alongside their team of Animal Control Officers & other Council staff members to host presentations on dog behavior and practical training assessments. This helps improve staff skill level for dog handling to make situations safer and more efficient both for the animal control officers and for the dogs. Our workshops are a combination of theoretical and practical learning, with a strong emphasis on real life scenario training and examples.
A big thank you to Waimakariri District Council for inviting us out to host this workshop.

This gorgeous german shepherd has just started his behavioural training package to work on reactivity towards other dogs and general calmness and focus. He struggles to settle and can get very easily distracted out on his walks and is quite reactive when he sees another dog in public. We are working on creating better engagement to his handler and teaching him that he no longer needs to react to other dogs. We look forward to seeing him progress over the course of his training 🐾

One of our current Board & Trains, this dog has traveled all the way from Picton 🐶
He is a super sweet bull breed mix and is currently staying with us to work on his confidence in new environments, general obedience/manners skills, leash reactivity, re-call training and socialisation with other dogs. He is doing very well with his training and has already made great progress 🐾

Just a reminder that we will be CLOSED over the Easter holiday period. We will be closed from tomorrow and re-open on Tuesday 7th of April. There will be no private training or group classes on Saturday 4th of April.
