Honestly, we are at a loss 😔
The rescue account is staring back at us with a bleak $5.31. We're tired, we're desperate and we're running out of ideas.
This month has been less than fun. We’ve already lost one of our fur friends to kidney failure. And on Friday, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have 5 baby buns humanely euthanised 💔 Someone had been unbelievably cruel and we had to step in for their sake. Their tiny lives cut short far too soon. The cost of being humane cut deep into what little funds we had. Picking up the pieces of someone else’s act didn’t feel great either. Yes we became involved knowing we had little to no money, but is it not a rescues purpose to prevent the suffering of animals? Even if means suffering of our own?
And today, a dumped rabbit. Abandoned and alone, they need our help but with what money? It's disheartening to see businesses, including those focused on different species, profit from the same rabbit-themed items we have always sold while we, a rabbit-specific non-profit, struggle to make ends meet. Keeping our current rabbits safe and healthy is a challenge and caring for this latest arrival feels like an impossible stretch.
So we're grasping at straws.
In a last-ditch effort to raise some much-needed funds, we're releasing a limited run of special edition fabric beds 🩶🧡 These beds are handmade with love, just like everything we do for our buns. We're hoping they'll bring in enough to help us stay afloat and to help us care for the rabbits who need us.
