We became the proud owners of Sentry Hill Cattery on September 4th 2024. We can’t believe it’s been a year, but here we are already at our 1st Anniversary 🥳Thanks to our faithful friends for cheering us on, our wonderful customers for their loyal patronage and our gorgeous guests for showing us as much love as we’ve shown them, it’s been the most fulfilling year of our lives. We’ve been busy revamping Reception and the Entranceway, which leads into the area we are now calling ‘Cat HQ’. To adding outdoor access Balconies to the building we’ve named ‘Kitty City’. And our newest building, ‘Catz Club’, with 6 individual catios leading off spacious suites, designed especially for felines with clean bathroom habits who are used to a carpeted environment. We’re excited to see what the next 12 months brings. Whatever it is, we hope you’ll be part of it. In the meantime, check out a few of the before and after images from these last 12 months, showing some of the changes we’ve made 😻

The new 'Catio' Suites are now Open for business. Our first paying guest is due to check in tomorrow 😺 But first, our resident 'Quality Controller' had to check out the facilities! Thankfully, she gave the nod of approval, that the accommodations were of a standard high enough to impress even the most fussy of fabulous feline 😻

🎼Looks Like We Made It🎼19 year old Spotty was diagnosed with onset of Renal failure and discharged on July 16th from the Vet clinic, after receiving the diagnosis and undergoing treatment for dehydration, among other things. On July 22nd he came to Sentry Hill Cattery to stay while his owner went on holiday to the UK. I found out after his first night here that Spotty had very little control of his bladder. Understandable, due to his age and health condition. Day two I moved him to a more suitable unit and one near Reception, so I could monitor him more closely. Spotty is such a sweet, gentle soul and I could tell he must have been fastidious in grooming himself in his younger days. He still valiantly tried to maintain clean habits. I helped him with his grooming and we soon worked out a daily routine, which involved a number of hours tending to him. Spotty is deaf, so during our sessions together I would put my mouth right up to his forehead and talk to him soothingly. The old darling would push his head into me while purring raggedly. I think he may be almost blind too, but he still made his way up and down the ramp to use the kitty litter trays on the days he felt well enough. I put a night light in for him to help with his evening trips to the toilet. I feel very honoured to be his carer during this time. Spotty's unit walls and floor were lined with 'puppy training pads' (he could p*e horizontally!), topped with newspaper, then paper towels. These were replaced daily to keep things fresh, clean and dry. Spotty loved spending the afternoons catching the last of the sunlight's heat coming through the kitchen window, then curling up in the nest I'd make for him, with a heat pad in it to keep him cozy, warm 24/7. Every night I would worry about him and every morning I was so grateful to see him come out of his bed to greet me. Spotty was with us from July 22nd until yesterday, Aug 16th when his owner returned to pick him up. I felt sadness at saying goodbye to this beautiful old boy, but also a huge sense of relief that his final days weren't spent in a cattery, even one with such fine facilities as ours. There's no telling how many more days this fine feline will have, but I hope they are all pain free and sunshine filled 💝
