🐧 A special patient recently visited our team... Captain! 💚

The National Aquarium's Captain recently visited us for a procedure on his injured beak. Veronika and Rebecca carefully trimmed his beak, helping keep this one-eyed little penguin comfortable and able to carry on doing what penguins do best!

It's a privilege to work alongside the amazing team at the National Aquarium, and to play a small part in helping care for their treasured animals! From penguins and kiwi to tuatara, water dragons, terrapins, fish and more, no two patients are ever the same. 🐢🐟🐧🥝

🐾 🏝 Vet Care Knows No Borders 🏝 🐾

Recently, our nurse Sana headed off on a well-deserved holiday to Fiji, but she didn't arrive empty-handed.

Tucked away in her luggage was a collection of veterinary supplies to donate to Animals Fiji, a charity dedicated to improving animal welfare and providing veterinary care throughout Fiji.

The donation included essential items such as endo-tracheal tubes, stethoscopes, suture materials, bandaging supplies, IV catheters, and some extra treats for their patients.

As her first stop after arriving in Fiji, Sana visited the Animals Fiji clinic in Nadi, where she met their passionate team, toured the facility, and spent some time with a few of the animals waiting for their forever homes and handed over the supplies.

Animals Fiji provides veterinary treatment, emergency care, and animal welfare education for pets, livestock, and wildlife across the islands, often with limited resources.

A huge thank you to Sana for taking the time to connect with this incredible organisation and help support the important work they do! 💙🐶🐱

🦷🐱 Jasper's Dental 🐱🦷

Jasper recently visited our Napier clinic for a dental procedure with Dave and Deanna.

Dave might be known by some of our clients as a bit of a "horse dental guru," but he's just as skilled when it comes to tackling dental cases in cats and dogs! 🐴

As our pets get older, dental disease becomes increasingly common and can have a significant impact on their comfort, health, and quality of life.

X-rays were taken to see what was happening beneath the surface, revealing a loose tooth with significant bone loss and a painful dental neck lesion. The tooth's roots had become fused to the surrounding bone, making extraction a little more challenging. Dave carefully removed the affected tooth before giving the rest of Jasper's teeth a thorough clean. ✨

Cats are masters at hiding dental pain, so signs can be subtle. If your cat has bad breath, difficulty eating, drooling, or it's simply been a while since their last dental assessment, it might be time to book a check-up.

Lambing season is in full swing! 🐑💕

Meet little Rudi – one of a set of triplets born yesterday who has found himself in good hands for a little extra TLC. 🥰

Rudi has spent the day in clinic soaking up plenty of attention from Izzy, Kate, and Sharne, who have been making sure he's warm, well-fed, and feeling loved.

It's not every day we have a lamb helping out around the clinic, and we have to admit he's been quite the hit with the team! 💙

💚 Proud to support an incredible cause. 💚

On Friday night, some of our Vet Services team were proud to attend the Cranford Hospice Fundraiser, joining others from across our community in supporting the incredible work Cranford Hospice does for local families.

It was great to share the evening with two representatives from our local SPCA and JP from MSD. A special thank you to MSD and Masterpet for helping us put together an auction item in support of the fundraiser.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic evening. We always enjoy getting behind organisations that make such a meaningful difference in our community. 💚

🌵 A thorny situation for Happy! 🐱👁️

Poor Happy recently found himself needing some veterinary care after getting a large thorn stuck in his eye!

Thankfully, Emily and Kate were able to carefully remove the thorn, and we’re very happy to report that Happy has been recovering beautifully, with no permanent damage to his eye! 💚
