Platies (Xiphophorus) are a hardy, beginner-friendly aquarium fish originating from Central America and southern Mexico. As livebearers, they’re easy to care for and adapt well to a wide range of water conditions, making them an ideal choice for new hobbyists.

They come in an impressive variety of colours and patterns, and with adults generally staying under 5 cm, they fit comfortably into most tropical community aquariums.

As we approach the end of the year, the couriers are going to be under the pump to deliver those last-minute Christmas presents.

To keep our fishy friends safe from delays, our last day of live fish shipping this year will be Monday 8th of December 2025. Live fish shipping will resume when we return in 2026.

None perishable goods may also take a little longer to arrive later in the month, but we can continue to ship up until Christmas Eve.

Just 20 more sleep until Christmas. Make sure you get all your aquarium needs sorted before the break. 😃

It's Fish List Time!!

My favourite new fish this week is the red eye puffer fish. This is the first time I've seen this in fish in person and they are just adorable. They have beautiful red eyes and amazing patterns on the females. Both genders are available in store.

Also new to the store this week are the L168 butterfly pleco at good size, electric blue ram, checker barb, Alberti synodontis, delhezi bichir and Hoplisoma duplicareum (previously known as aldofoi or duplicareus cory).

Let's not forget, gold and pineapple bristlenose are also back. Available in both long and short fin.
