Cat and kitten rescue in Invercargill, NZ. Registered charity. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats and kittens from around Invercargill.

Every cat in our care is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. We are able to work with neonatal kittens, can facilitate colony control, and TNR (trap neuter release). We are working on long term solutions to the stray cat population in Southland. Being a small organisation so we cannot take in large volumes of cats and kittens but we can offer advice, loan traps or equipment to those in need and liaise with other rescue groups and organisations. What a weekend! Labour weekend is always a big one for us, and for good reason.

We are so lucky to be able to run the canteen at the annual Great Little Train Show. The exhibitors and members of the model engineers society are a wonderful crew and make the weekend a really positive and fun experience.

From the canteen sales, cheese roll sales and calendar sales we made $1800 profit. That's $1800 towards caring for the rescue cats that pass through our doors. We are elated!

I'm very tired and feel like I still need a couple days of sleep but it's worth the hard work.

MISSING - Waimatuku Flat Road, Otahuti

Hissy has been missing since 08 October. Desexed but not microchipped.

Had not been at the address very long so may have wandered and got lost. If you live within 5km of the address, please open your sheds and garages in case he has been locked inside. Keep an eye out for him visiting your address, check home security footage.

He came from Luggage so he may be wandering north but no guarantees. He could have also got in a car or vehicle and gone for a ride. So even if you think it's too far away to be him, just contact the number below.

Clover's crate door gets left open for a few hours on my days off so the other cats can hop in and visit her. She has never left the crate of her own accord, only leaving if I carry her (reluctantly) into the open while she clings to me like a baby monkey.

As you can see, visitors come and go but I'm pretty sure most of them are just jealous she gets a hammock and they don't! Or Barnaby will sneak in to eat her kitten biscuits when I'm not looking! Today was Millie's first visit to Clover and of course, she went straight into her hammock!

We've also started placing Clover and her bed out in the main cattery to adjust her. She gets nervous but stays in her bed as she looks around and watches the other cats doing their thing. If I put her on the ground without her bed she panics and runs, trying to get back into her crate or somewhere up high (sometimes that's my shoulders)!

Clover is doing great on the medication, still has some wobbles. While her back legs are strong, her balance and coordination is still wonky so she often misjudges when jumping climbing.

She has 45 days of Remdesivir to go, so we are approaching the half way point.

I'm also super excited to announce that she PURRED for the FIRST TIME in my arms last night. While holding her like a baby, nuzzling into my neck and getting lots of pats, I felt this odd vibration and noise coming from her. Then I realized what was happening and burst into happy tears! After a few minutes her motor warmed up and she got the hang of purring, that moment was pure magic.

If Clover has stolen your heart, and you are curious about adopting we would love to hear from you. We wouldn't be adopting her out until she's off the medication and we've had at least a few weeks to monitor her off the meds to make sure she isn't going to relapse (at least in the short term).

Clover will need to be a 100% indoor cat. Catios are always preferred in these cases as they give the indoor cats safe access to fresh air and the outside. Quiet home, low stress. Other cats are fine, unsure on dogs.

Congratulations Delilah!

This girl has so much personality, she doesn't disappoint when it comes to smooches!

Delilah was lucky enough to spend some time in one of our foster homes where she was able to let her true personality shine.

Delilah loves to be around people and loves to play, we are excited for her to get to know her new parents and share the love with them.

We are extremely fortunate to have received over 60kg of cheese, donated by Open Country. Coming into kitten season, this will be a huge help as we turn the cheddar cheese into delicious cheese rolls to sell to all of you.

Open Country is 100% New Zealand owned and operated. They've been around since 2004 and are invested in local farmers and local communities.

We can attest to their support of local organisations, and are thankful they can see the importance of the work we do.

These have been frozen and defrosted already, so cannot be re-frozen. It is recommended to eat them by tomorrow evening (Monday 26 Oct).
