Baby Spotty on the left (3/4 MRI heifer by Flynt). On target to do 570MS.
And on the right, a Gerbert heifer (1/2 MRI) on target for 480MS.

These girls certainly grow a thicker coat than the jerseys.

Kimberley making friends with the very friendly Cartref Priscilla.

A nice 4yo, 688Ms in 395 days as a heifer. 614ms as a 3yo in 236days.

First Cartref cow to check out the Lely robots.

Unfortunately 3yo Cartref Victorious Waffle has calved a good 6 weeks early.

She’s not 100% but is starting to milk up anyway. Spending her days in the sun and on grass, and her nights tucked up in the compost barn.

It would be a big challenge for her to match her production of last season - 708MS.

She is quickly getting the hang of the robots and the automatic gates, helped by the fact she has a very quiet nature.

So I’ve learnt from Cliffs Facebook experience and I’m now making more effort to post to my website rather than Facebook.

Previously I’d sort of thought that using Facebook created a reasonable historic record.

I’m obviously naive as I also thought Minda would be a reasonable recorder of pedigree info!

Anyway, I was horrified when Cliff and all his valuable historic Jersey info was deleted.
It is ridiculous and certainly a huge loss for dairymen and, in particular, Jersey breeders.

Cartref Leonel Maggie 05 Jun Jo Crack News Cartref Leonel Maggie Checking the girls late this avo, and this beauty came up for a chat. Impressive production, and only 4 years old. The girls were due to depart from the North Island mid May, so had to be dried off earlier than normal.

Spot the odd one out.

The pale girl with the collar is 11yo Robo V Breeze (662ms for 305days) she’s perfectly happy in with the Cartref girls, who have made themselves at home.

On the left is Cartref Dash Mia, a nice 5yo who milked 699kg ms this season before having to be dried off early for the trip south.

Final trip…

Milnes have been on the job again, this time bringing the Cartref spring calving herd to their new home in the Deep South.

The girls are now safely tucked up in our compost barn and seem right at home.

Due to start calving just after mid July… that’s going to come around quick.

Bought this girl at last night’s Jersey Pride sale.
Her breeding is in total contrast to anything else I have.
It’ll be interesting to see how she goes in the Deep South.
