A little about me....

A passion for horses lead me to riding and further equine education with attainment of a National Diploma in Horse Management at triple distinction, along with being awarded top student, BHS Stage 1 and 2, and NVQ 3. My results and work ethic lead to a job offer from Jules Cournane (nee Stiller) that exposed me to top level equestrian competition. I ran the prestigious Headl

ey Stud for three years, the base of Jules Cournane and Mark Todd. This position involved and exposed me to top level schooling, from youngsters to 4* horses, coaching, and competing throughout the UK and Europe. Competing included my own and owners competition horses including rides from other professionals producing them to one star level. Management of Headley Stud allowed close working relationships with elite eventers including temporary management of facilities used by Giovanni Ugolotti (ITA), Kathryn Robinson (CAN), Owen Moore (GBR), and USA riders prior to 4* events among others. This was an amazing opportunity for me having access to the best training and gained extensive experience of the international eventing circuit including grooming at
Burghley, Blenheim, Luhmühlen, and at the London Olympic test event. After my time at Headley Stud I worked for Marilyn Little (USA) while she was based in then UK prior to the 2012 Olympics, and GBR junior rider Will Furlong. Working with Will Furlong allowed me to use my previous experience at Headley Stud to help produce medal winning GBR junior team horses. Prior to emigrating to New Zealand I was employed at the top performing Private School in Equestrian sports with management of facilities and training of students and schooling. I am skilled in various training techniques using approaches based on individual horses needs to enhance performance. Working with Tracey Duncan and Liz Eaton during my time in the UK helped my understanding of individual approaches and continue to be an inspiration to my work to achieve the best results for the horse and rider.

We have finally got around to giving everyone an update on the move!

We have missed seeing everyones faces but it’s been an exciting and busy time getting settled into the new property. The horses have adjusted so well to their new surroundings — they’ve been exploring the paddocks (that are done 🫣), getting used to the new routines and the riding school ponies are enjoying a well deserved break! In between all the chaos we got Zebedee and Donnie out to a show and they jumped some lovely rounds.

We have lost count of the posts we have put in and soooo many more to go, there as been alot of fencing by torchlight!

Both horses and humans are starting to feel right at home. The property already feels like the perfect place to build new memories and continue growing together and we are excited to get set up for anyone that would like to come down!

We will pop some videos onto our stories of the ponies ♡

SOLD IN A WEEK TO A LOVELY HOME

Available on behalf 🏡

Roany (kabo Zoolander)
Gelding
14.2 (high certificate)
13 year old
Strawberry Roan

Roany arrives to our place tomorrow and once we have done our assessment he will be available for viewing. Info below from current owners.

Roany is the sweetest pony that I have ever owned, he is very gentle nature. Roany is a confidence booster, I would say that if you are wanting to get up the heights on something that will 100% take care of you Roany is the pony. He has taken me from a shaky 80cm to a confident 1m. Not only does Roany not touch rails he is also very well established on the flat competing up to level 2 dressage and performing it very well. Roany has done absolutely nothing but preformed his best for me and giving his all into everything that I ask of him. He is a happy hacker and loves XC making him the perfect all-round pony. He is flashy for competition liking to show off. The only reason for sale is because his current rider is wanting something a bit more to take her to PGP. Roany is also amazing on the ground with impeccable manners. He is good to shoe, clip, wash, worm and floats with ease. Only available to the very best of homes.

TANK
Pencoed Taran

12hh 14 year old gelding
Welsh pony

Previously used as a childrens cart pony and we have owned him since the end of 2022. He is a lovely guy but timid so needs someone very calm and patient, very willing once he trusts you.

He can be paddocked alone or with others but does need careful grass management and is good to leave on his own in the paddock. Can be wary to catch if unsure but fine if you have treats. Barefoot and great for the farrier, dentist and to worm. Floats and trucks with no issue.

Awesome little jumper but needs the right match rider as he can have a spook and be sharp, but with the right rider he is super! He is sensitive and feeds off the energy of his rider so this needs to be considered. Good to hack out alone or with others. He is the type of pony that needs to be in regular work. Good on the lead rein. Excellent ground manners and well behaved with children, enjoys being fussed over.

DUDE

The ultimate schoolmaster
16.3hh 13 year old gelding
By Don Federico
Dude has been in our family for the last 8 years.
He is a lovely easy, friendly and kind natured horse to have around and was previously one of my competition horses. He would be an awesome adult or teenagers horse, even quiet enough for someone returning to riding.
Dude has beautiful movement and schools shoulder in, half pass, leg yield, traverse, renvers, flying changes and simple changes. All with ease and a great teacher.

Dude has competed in showjumping to 1.15m-1.20m, eventing to 95 and dressage to level 5. He is a real head turner and would really excel through the levels in dressage, with that being someone's only focus.

He is great to hack out alone or in company and is happy to lead or follow, he is very regularly hacked out at the beach and forest, so well exposed. His behavior is impeccable when hacking out and he has even cantered along the beach with complete beginners before and at the forest by beginners. Loves going in the surf and the water, he also loves to swim! He is also used in our riding school for children and adults and is very well behaved.

He can be paddocked alone or with others and is not herd bound. Excellent ground manners and well behaved with children, enjoys being fussed over. Great for the farrier we have him barefoot as he has great solid feet, good for the dentist and to worm. Does need dormo to be clipped. Floats and trucks with no issue.

❗️IMPORTANT INFORMATION❗️
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision not to continue our lease in 2026. Therefore the riding school and livery yard will close permanently, from the 25th January 2026. This was not an easy choice, as running the school has been both a privilege and a pleasure. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your trust, loyalty, and support over the years.

This 10 year journey would not have been possible without your partnership, and we are truly thankful for the relationships and community we have built. Those early years were tough. Long hours, tight budgets (broke!), constant learning and moments of doubt. The hustle was real. But with grit, determination and a "she'll be right" attitude, we slowly found our feet. This journey has been humbling, challenging, full of setbacks, loss, celebrations, and a new addition. But what has made all the difference is the amazing people who encouraged us and became friends along the way. It has provided Bethany an amazing start to life, with all the wonderful people surrounding her and we will be forever grateful for this, as it sure can be tough without family around for support. While this chapter is coming to an end, we take pride in what we’ve accomplished together, memories made, and the friendships that we hope will be long lasting.

We also just want to acknowledge the huge impact Kizzy, Finn and Lindy have had here. A huge amount of what we do would not be possible without their support, hard work, experience, and understanding of what this place means to us.

We will continue with the riding school until the end of January and look forward to making more memories until then.

We will be relocating to Taranaki, on our very own property. We plan to start up down there with a number of the horses, but on a smaller scale so there will be some of the horses/ponies for sale. David will be continuing to service the Auckland area as a farrier with a smaller run and will also be taking on new clients in Taranaki and I will be travelling up to coach those with their own horses on a fairly regular basis.

Once again, thank you for allowing us to be part of your riding journey. It has been an honor to coach and watch both adults and children grow.

There will be a leaving party that we would love to see past and current clients at, hopefully a date in January!

Thanks for taking the time to read.
