Quick Look Back at New Zealands absolute Elite Broodmares, those capable of producing more than 1 Classic Winner either the New Zealand Oaks or the Derby,
Just a short list of six Mares Ordered by Broodmare achievement rather than their own race performance,
Number 1 "Sugar Kandy" was unable to win blacktype but did produce 2 fillies who won both the Oaks and the Derby (4 wins) Sweet Spray and Sweet Nymph,
Number 2 "Miss Gladys" Who Produced Gladsome and Gladstone 1 Oaks and 2 Derbies
Number 3 "Peeress" 2 Derbies But was also able to win 17 Races herself
Number 4 "Marion" produced 2 Oaks Winners and also able to win more than 15 races
Number 5 "Una" Unraced herself but did produce 2 Derby Winners
Number 6 "Eulogy" unraced but able to produce an Oaks winner and a Derby Winner

So that is it, the Total of the Elite Broodmares in New Zealands History,

It is interesting to note that by the 1919 Yearbook of New Zealand the Combined Stud book and "Light horse numbers" ( making up New Zealand illustrious NSB families) was over 22,000 in number, So you would have to think those mares from the turn of the 20th Century,Were mathematically some 200% to 300% more challenged to achieve this feat than current day mares

Looks Like Wootton Bassetts 2-3 Year old Crop has produced 14 individual Stakes winners, Be interested to see how this finishes up after his Southern Hemisphere Crop has a chance to be 3 Year olds

Quick Look Back at Tiger Gain, Who was bought for 6 Guineas by Mr Madson from the Breeder Mr H.A Speedy in Waipukurau, History will show that neither Mr Speedy or Mr Madson would ever confirm the dam other than to say she was a "Finland mare",
it was the sale of the Estate that seemed to indicate the exact Finland Mare Mr Speedy owned was Tigerine a Descendant of Tigeress,
not sure how they reached the conclusion to name the Horse Tiger Gain, By Gainscourt, or his half Brother Blue Tiger By Garter Blue,

Anyway unraced until he was 4, Tiger Gain went onto to win 14 Races included in that was winning the Manawatu Cup for a second time as a 9 Year old, and indoing so setting a Race record which stood for a few years.
