Heartbreaking Rehome – Loving Dog Needs a New Home | Te Puke 🐾

This is a deeply emotional decision, but the current owner has made the difficult choice to rehome their beloved 2-year-old dog, Tama. Due to life changes, the owner can no longer provide the time and attention Tama truly deserves — and he deserves everything.

Tama is a mixed breed — likely Labrador, Shar Pei, and possibly Pit Bull — but most of all, he’s pure love and loyalty wrapped in a goofy, affectionate body.

✨ About Tama:
• Excellent with children and cats
• Energetic and loves to run, explore, and go on long walks
• Loves snuggling close in bed and being with people
• Microchipped
• Affectionate, sweet, and always eager to be near his family
• Will thrive with someone experienced with dogs who can provide structure, consistency, and lots of affection

Golden Retriever (Otis) – Loving Home Needed 🐾

A responsible and heartfelt decision has been made to rehome Otis, a beautiful 2-year-old Golden Retriever, in the Kaukapakapa area. The owner is seeking a loving, experienced home that can offer Otis the calm environment he truly deserves.

Otis is:

Desexed (neutered)
Up to date with all veterinary care
House-trained and understands basic commands
Extremely affectionate, friendly with visitors, and loves fetch and cuddles
A sweet, goofy boy whose personality really shines when he feels safe and loved
While Otis thrives on companionship and play, he does have some mild skin allergies, which are easily managed with a consistent care routine. Details can be provided upon enquiry.

Reason for Rehoming
Otis struggles with resource guarding, particularly around other animals. Unfortunately, his current home is small and shared with both a resident cat and other family dogs, leading to stress and a few incidents. Despite dedicated efforts, the living situation has proven unsuitable long-term.

Ideally no other pets (or an experienced handler willing to work slowly and carefully)
A securely fenced yard or ample space to play

🤎 Poppy Needs a Calm, Loving Home 🤎

It is with a heavy heart that the current owner has made the difficult decision to rehome sweet Poppy. Despite ongoing efforts, Poppy's past trauma has made adjusting to city life very difficult for her.

Poppy is a highly reactive dog — not out of aggression, but due to deep-seated fear. She may either shut down completely or become overwhelmed with emotion. The owner believes Poppy would thrive in a quiet, semi-rural environment where she can finally feel safe and secure.

She may also benefit from living with a calm, confident dog who can help her rediscover joy and build confidence through positive companionship.

When Poppy is in a calm and familiar environment, her true personality shines through — she becomes affectionate, goofy, and full of love. Unfortunately, relocating to a quieter area is not currently an option for the owner, and despite various strategies being tried, Poppy simply needs the right setting and time to heal and flourish.

Breed: Labrador/Retriever Mix

Jet is a loving, loyal companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He thrives on human interaction and especially enjoys playing with a ball – it’s his absolute favourite activity. Jet currently sleeps indoors (often on the bed!) and views himself as a full member of the family. He is gentle with young children and has brought a great deal of joy and laughter into the home.

Jet’s full background is somewhat unknown. His current owner took him in earlier this year after his previous family was no longer able to keep him. Sadly, due to a change in rental circumstances where dogs are not allowed, the owner is now seeking a new, loving home for Jet.

⚠️ Important Information:
Jet has not had extensive formal training and will require a committed, experienced owner who can provide structure and guidance. He may be reactive around other dogs – there was a single incident involving an unprovoked attack while off-lead, although no prior signs of aggression had been observed. For this reason, Jet must be the only dog in his new home.

He may bark or growl when meeting new people and sometimes jumps up when unsure or excited. These behaviours are likely to improve with consistency and proper training.

🐾 Meet Ryker – Looking for His Forever Home
📍 Location: New Zealand
📅 Estimated DOB: October/November 2024

Ryker came into the current owner's care as a rescue in February after being abandoned. He is now desexed and microchipped, and ready to find a committed forever home.

Ryker is currently on a dog kibble diet and is leash trained using a harness. He has been both an indoor and outdoor dog, though with the colder weather, he sleeps inside at night. He’s had some basic training, learning to sit in both English and Te Reo Māori, but will need further guidance — particularly around jumping up and socialising with other dogs.

Ryker can become short-tempered with other dogs, especially when overstimulated or when his personal space is invaded, so he would be best suited as the only dog on the property.

🏡 This boy needs a home with structure, kindness, and ongoing training.
