🐶🐾 A pawsome day in Te Kauwhata!

Our Te Kauwhata clinic held its first dog run of the year, and what a beautiful day it was! ☀️

Our team was kept busy vaccinating an amazing 61 dogs and 2 cats, helping keep our four-legged friends happy, healthy and protected.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and to our wonderful team for making the day a success!

We can't wait for the next one! 🐕🐈

Think fleas are just a summer problem? Think again!

As the weather warms up, flea numbers can quickly increase, and what starts as just a few fleas can turn into an infestation before you know it.

And here’s something you might not know: around 95% of the flea problem, including eggs, larvae and pupae, can be living in your pet’s environment, such as your home, carpets, furniture and garden.

Regular flea treatment can help break the cycle and keep your pets comfortable and protected as we head into the warmer months.

Pink October 🎀

This Pink October, we’re raising awareness about mammary cancer in dogs and the signs pet owners should be looking out for.

Dogs can develop mammary cancer, particularly older female dogs. Lumps, swelling, sores, discharge or changes to the skin around the mammary glands are all worth paying attention to. Regular checks at home can help you become familiar with your dog’s body and make it easier to notice if something changes.

💡 Did you know?

There’s a common myth that female dogs should have at least one litter of puppies. You might have heard that having puppies is good for her health, helps her mature or makes her a better dog. The truth is, your dog doesn’t need to have puppies to be happy or healthy. Dogs do not need to experience motherhood to become happy, well adjusted adults. There is no health requirement for a female dog to have a litter before being desexed, and pregnancy and giving birth come with their own risks and responsibilities.

Mammary tumours are seen in our clinic more commonly in older undesexed females. Decisions around desexing and the best timing for your dog should be discussed with your vet based on her individual needs.
Not every lump is cancer, but any new or unusual change should be checked by your vet. 🐾 🩷

As our pets get older, new freckles and pigmented spots can appear on their skin, and many are completely harmless. But some changes may be worth getting checked.

From 5 to 9 October, we’re celebrating our amazing Anexa Veterinary Nurses and Large Animal Technicians and everything they bring to our team.

Across both our Companion Animal and Production Animal teams, we’re incredibly fortunate to have such a compassionate, dedicated and professional group of people supporting our vets, caring for animals and helping our clients every day.

Whether they’re working in our clinics or out on farm alongside our Production Animal vets, their knowledge, practical skills, kindness and commitment make a real difference to the care and service we provide.

What an incredible day! 🐶

On 26 September, we partnered with Waikato Pound Pups Waikato District Council for the second year running for Driving Out Parvo 2026 in Taupiri.

Thanks to an amazing community effort, 130 dogs received their parvovirus vaccination and 95 dogs were microchipped! 🙌

A very special thank you to our incredible Anexa volunteers who generously gave their time to make the day possible. Your compassion, dedication and commitment to caring for our community are what make days like this so special. You’re absolute legends! 💚

And of course, thank you to everyone who came along with their furry family members. It was wonderful to see so many people taking an important step to help protect their dogs from parvo.

🐾 If your puppy was vaccinated on the day, remember they will still need a booster vaccination. Please contact your nearest Anexa clinic to book their booster.

Together, we’re helping protect more dogs in our community from parvo.

Dogs and puppies must be over 6 weeks old, no booking is required, and dogs must be on a lead. Please bring proof of address as this event is for Waikato District Council residents.

There’s also a free barbecue, dog product samples, freebies and exclusive discounts on the day!
