The access is from Awahuri Rd (NOT Lees Rd) signs are on gateway, shared driveway - follow to the end.

RDA provides interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs, enabling them to have meaningful participation in, and contribution to, their community.

This here is exactly why we do what we do. From Mia's mum.........

Dusty you one eyed miracle horse!
Anyone that knows Mia, knows what a massive deal it is that she just sat down and let me french braid her hair. No complaints, in fact she came running to the seat to sit down. This all happened because I told her we needed to do her hair so that she could go ride Dusty today.

Riding for Mia is achieving such big things, but take note in the photo of all the amazing volunteers it requires to get her on a horse safely. That doesn't take in to account the paddock cleaners, horse managers and commitee members who are working behind the scenes. I truly thank the village that creates Manawatu RDA

It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻💛

It’s estimated that around 80% of disabilities are non-visible. These can include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible, but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in helping everyone feel seen, understood and supported.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower helps people with non-visible disabilities discreetly indicate that they may need additional support, understanding or patience. 🌻

Thanks to a wonderful group of generous people who volunteered their time for many hours over a number of days, we now have a large new tack shed up and ready for term 4 to begin next week.
The old shed has also been moved to a new spot outside so we can use it for a hay shed.
Thank you so very much to each and every person involved in all parts of this project.

WE NEED YOUR HELP - UNFORTUNATELY THE HELP WE HAD HAS FALLEN THROUGH

Working bee at RDA this Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 3pm both days to help build the new tack shed. Pizza lunch, coffee and tea provided.

While the horses are now officially on holidays for a few weeks it's all systems go in the arena. Watch this space for exciting new additions.

While I have total confidence in our fantastic horse care team, given the horrendous winds, I wanted to see just what it looked like at 248! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the paddocks above the carpark were surprisingly sheltered and most of the team were there.
[Big thanks to Carol and her husband doing some poo picking!]
So those concerned about wind and the ponies welfare, sleep easy because our wonderful ponies are fine!
I should have taken a photo, shouldn't I!

We are on the lookout to buy some baylage for our older members of the equine team this winter. Happy for big or small rectangle bales but would require big bales to be delivered. Thank you ☺️
