The busy week continues with races at Christchurch, Ready To Run Sales, Avondale Trials, Horse shows and then races back at Riccarton, Tauranga and Rotorua this weekend !! Crazy times but the staff are doing a fantastic job - even receiving two turnout prizes during Cup week 👊👊

TAURANGA RACES SATURDAY

RACE 3 - 1.35pm
HAPPY YOUMZAIN : This raced looked to be a nice lead up to the Bonecrusher Stakes in 2 weeks without the big trip to Christchurch. Drawn nicely in gate 1 with plenty of tempo in the field. His work has been very pleasing and we would expect him to be competitive here with more improvement to come.

RACE 5 - 2.43pm
BOSS N HIGHEELS : Also drawn nicely in gate 1 and has trained on well since her promising trial. A quality field where we should see a bold run from her as she can fresh up.

RACE 7 - 3.52pm
AGERA : Continues to stay in form and thriving in his trackwork. From gate 3 he has stable apprentice Sam McNab on board who knows him well, and hopefully we see another bold run today.

RACE 6 - 2.59pm - LINDAUER STEWARDS STAKES (Listed)
SLIPPER ISLAND : He is enjoying his trip away down south and looks in fantastic condition. He pulled up very well since his start last Saturday and after a light week of work he looks ready to fire once again. Has Matt Cartwright carrying only 54.5kgs, but we just hope the track dries up a bit better.

Day two off Cup week with just the one runner :

RACE 8 - 5.39pm - TAB MILE ( Group 3 - 1600mts )

CANNON HILL -3rd 👌🏼👌🏼: He has travelled down well and looks in fantastic condition leading into his grand finale this preparation. Drawn gate 1 to get a nice position early on and Matt Cartwright stays on board after their last start win. Will appreciate any cut out of the ground.

RACE 8 - 4.50pm
URLAR : - 2nd 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻She resumes tomorrow over 1400m from gate 5. Her trial was encouraging and we are hoping for a strong preparation now that she is fully mature and able to hold her form.
She will obviously improve with the run but is forward enough after a solid barrier trial to be competitive in a fresh state.

Good luck to the connections of Windsor Park bred and sold, Cream Tart who takes her place in the Gr.1 Barnswood Farm 1000 Guineas.

👨‍⚖️ She was a $230,000 purchase from our draft for her trainer Tony Pike.

🧬 Very well related she is a half sister to dual Gr.1 winner, Mustang Valley and from the family of champion Might And Power. From the first crop of Cambridge stud stallion Hello Youmzain.

WHAT A WEEK OF RACING !!
Three runners flew down to Riccarton on Wednesday morning for Cup week. All travelled very well and have settled into their new digs for the campaign. And the one runner at Pukekohe.

RACE 5 - 3.08pm
PAX MUNDI - 1st 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻: Drawn nicely in gate 5 on the big roomy track at Pukekohe. Possibly prefers the left handed way of going but this looked a suitable race in the even field at this point of her preparation.

RICCARTON
RACE 6 - 2.16pm - DONALDSON BROWN PEGASUS STAKES - 1000mts
SLIPPER ISLAND - 4th 👌🏼👌🏼: The straight 1000m in a fresh state should suit with a strong tempo likely. It may be a tough race for him to win with top weight but it will have him peaking for his main target the Stewards handicap next Saturday over six furlongs. He is bright and well and will put in a bold run.

RACE 7 - 2.48pm - WINDSOR PARK STUD CANTERBURY BREEDERS STAKES - 1400mts
CHURCHILLIAN - 11th 🙉: It is her second trip to Christchurch and she has taken it all in her stride.
It is a bigger field than usual and looks very even but Based on how she looks and her work leading into tomorrow I would like to think she is a genuine each way chance.

RACE 10 - 4.41pm - BARNSWOOD FARM 53RD NEW ZEALAND 1000 GUINEAS - 1600mts
CREAM TART : She has travelled to Christchurch in great order. It is her first trip away and she has handled it very well. Tomorrow is obviously her grand final for this preparation. Drawing barrier one is an obvious advantage. Her work on Tuesday morning before heading down was very good and she looks a genuine each way chance in the 1000 Guineas tomorrow. The track will be a firmer surface than she has encountered in the past with a fine warm day forecasted but with her low action shouldnt be an issue.

The busy week continues and WOW the weather is superb !! We have a truck heading down to Taranaki this morning with 5 runners on board.

RACE 2 - 1.25pm
DEL INQUENT -3rd 👌🏼👌🏼: Second run in his career but has drawn a touch sticky in gate 8. He has apprentice Sam McNab who also rides him trackwork so know him well. Obviously still green and the race day experience will only put him in good stead going forward.

RACE 3 - 1.57pm
ASHOKA: -1st 👏👏Stays at the 1200mts after his promising last start 2nd. He is still a bit immature but is holding his condition well and will be a better horse with time. Sam Collett stays on board and we should see another solid run.

RACE 4 - 2.32pm
ARTHUR -2nd 👊🏻👊🏻: A race that fitted into his program over the 1400mts, not normally a track to run a horse like this on, but he is running against his age group and has the advantage of claiming 3kgs with apprentice Sam McNab onboard.

RACE 8 - 4.54pm
HIGH COUNTRY - 2nd 👍👍: Runs over 1800mts with in form George Rooke on board. Looks to be a good stepping stone as he steps up in distance and gets deeper into this preparation. His work has been pleasing and although he jumps from gate 8, we should see a bold run from him today.

POETIC JUSTICE : - 6th 👍Another stripping fitter for his second run this preparation before he steps up in distance. He has the ability but does need to start showing us a bit more grit in his races. Sam McNab claims the 3kgs and knows him well by riding him trackwork and in his race & trial starts.

MELBOURNE CUP DAY AT ELLERSLIE

Not quite the same as being part of the action at Flemington on this icon day but all the same we have a great team of runners at Ellerslie on Cup day.

RACE 1 - 12.20pm
PINK GIN : - 7th 🩷 -Has a touch sticky draw in gate 9 but strips fit third up into her preparation. Her work has been faultless and she will certainly give everything her best shot. Sam Collet stays on board.

RACE 2 - 12.57pm
ARGO - 6th 👍: Heads back to Ellerslie over the 1200mts in another competitive field as you would expect on cup day. Matt Cartwright stays on board and with any luck he should be finishing off strongly to be a genuine each way chance.

RACE 4 - 2.11pm
HAPPY YOUMZAIN - 6th 👍: Today will give us a line on his work before the Guinness in two weeks time. He strips fit and his work has been pleasing, this his not his grand final but it looks to be a nice lead up with experienced Rory Hutchings on board.

RACE 6 - 3.30pm
MALDINI - 4th 🙈: Another heading back to Ellerslie after a great last start race. He steps up to the 2400mts giving us a guide going forward. He's in good form and with some luck be competitive once again. Sam Collett stays on board.

RACE 7 - 4.03pm
CANNON HILL - 1st 🥂🥂🥂: His final lead up to the TAB mile over 1500mts at Riccarton next week. Drawn nicely in gate 3 with Matt Cartwright staying in the saddle, another who we should see finishing off strongly before his cup week campaign.

RACE 10 - 6.02pm
RUDYARD - 9th 🙉: A similar race to his last start at Ellerslie, strips fitter and he is needing to show us more today after a disappointing few starts. Senior Jockey Sam Weatherley has ridden him regularly so knows him well to give us a line.

A successful weekend on the track as well as off. David Geelen ( Mollys partner) competed in the NZ National Farrier competition held at Waikato A & P show.

He took out 1st place in 5 of his classes and 2nd in another by 0.3 of a point!

He’s one of the hardest working young guys around and deserves every success. Super proud with results showing off your hard work ethic, dedication and passion for the equine industry. 😍😍👊🏻👊🏻👏👏

Saturday double for the team 🙌

✨ Agera (Complacent (AUS) x Shelly Bee (NZ)) took out the Fielding Cup (Open Handicap, 2050m) with a strong performance under Leah Hemi.

💥 Thooza (Almanzor (FR) x Sea Goddess (NZ)) was too good in the Power Related Services Rating 75, also ridden by Leah Hemi.

A huge thank you to our hardworking staff with these two taking the talley to 800 wins for the Pike stable 🏆
