Wow — a huge thank you to everyone who attended our AGM today. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and wonderful support for the club.

Just a reminder that our AGM & Prizegiving is on tomorrow, Saturday 23rd May.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all there and celebrating another great season together.

For those who have preordered meals, lunch will be from 12 noon.
For everyone attending the AGM and Prizegiving, please arrive just before 1pm for a prompt 1pm start, with prizegiving to follow the meeting.

In the first five months of 2026, 20 people have lost their lives while walking or cycling on the road and one horse has died, according to the NZ Vulnerable Road User Charitable Trust. So we echo a call to all drivers to exercise patience by slowing down and giving space as they pass, by promoting a positive and life-saving message of Pass WIDE and SLOW. https://www.nzvrutrust.org.nz/

🌵🐎 Otago Western Riding Club Training Day! 🐎🌵

Want to build confidence in the ring, learn or sharpen up your western riding skills? Come along to our upcoming Club Training Day…

This is a relaxed, supportive day designed for riders of all levels. Whether you’re just starting out and want an intro, or you’re already hooked and want to know more. You might even be an experienced performer wanting arena time and a social fix to boot. We’ve got you covered.

✨ What to expect:

* Friendly, hands-on help from experienced club members
* An explanation of what different classes are about
* Guidance on ring etiquette and correct procedures
* A Western judge on-site to explain exactly what judges are looking for
* Tips to improve your patterns, presentation, and overall performance
* Practice riding around other horses—perfect for those of us who usually ride solo and find our horses can get a bit overwhelmed in busy competition settings.

It’s a great chance to learn, ask questions, and gain confidence in a no-pressure environment.

📍 Telford Indoor Arena, Balclutha
📅 Saturday/Sunday 9th and 10th May
⏰ 10am-3pm Saturday, 9am-2pm Sunday.
💰 $50 for members per day. $55 for non members. Attend both days to get bang for buck at $80 for members / $85 for non members. Yards are and additional $15 each.
