TGIF:Case study.
Patient M a two year old male was presented to us for a second opinion.History of a distended abdomen and lethargy.
After a physical exam,we did a comprehensive blood health profile and digital imaging .The tests confirmed Liver disease as the cause of fluid build up in the abdomen (Ascites ) and anemia that was making the dog lethargic.
Source of liver disease:-Dog meal(Unga/flour mix)
Patient was admitted and immediately put on hemodialysis to detox the liver and given blood boosters and plasma expanders to help restore normal blood volume.Additional medication given to clear fluid from the abdomen. We changed the food to a proper kibble diet and human grade rice and minced chicken. After few days of admission and end of hemodialysis,Patient was discharged and sent home with some medication.A review was done 3 weeks later(Pictures below ) and the progress has been remarkable. His energy is back and skin coat getting better each passing day.
Patient M survived a life threatening liver disease .
