Gentle reminder to all new customers, and existing customers booking in a different dog:

If your dog is extremely overdue, heavily matted, nervous, overly cautious, or has behavioural issues, please let us know honestly when booking the appointment.

We will still work with your dog and do our best to accommodate them. Being informed beforehand simply allows us to book the correct amount of time and make the appointment as stress free and safe as possible for both your dog and the salon.

Matting and behavioural issues completely change the grooming process, and saying there is “a little bit of matting” does not accurately describe coats that require shaving to the skin.

It is also extremely important for safety reasons that we are properly informed about a dog’s temperament before the appointment. Grooming can already be stressful for some dogs, and not having an honest understanding of how a dog may react leaves me in a very vulnerable position when handling them and using sharp equipment.

What many people do not realise is that appointments like this can take significantly longer than scheduled, especially when a dog is stressed, fearful, reactive, or severely matted. When we are not properly informed beforehand, it can completely disrupt the rest of the day and result in other customers having their appointments cancelled or rearranged at short notice after they have already set time aside.

That is not fair on other customers, and it is not fair on us either.

Going forward, dogs arriving to appointments that have not been accurately described in regard to coat condition or temperament may be refused and charged in full.

We had a large dog booked in today and received a call at the exact appointment time to cancel.

When our no show policy was explained we were told they were not aware of it, despite the policy being clearly pinned on our website which they had been on prior to booking.

We have now re uploaded our cancellation and no show policies again so there is absolutely no confusion going forward.

We were then told they would “give €20” and that would be all they would be paying towards the missed appointment.

Just to be very clear. This is not pocket money work. This is not a hobby. This is our livelihood.

Appointments for large dogs weighing over 50kg require a huge block of the day to be cleared and prepared. When someone cancels at the exact appointment time that slot cannot be filled again. That income is simply gone.

We try very hard to be fair with our pricing and not increase costs for people given how difficult things are for everyone at the minute. At the moment the entire country is practically at a standstill over fuel costs and disruption, yet we have still not increased our collection and drop off prices because many of our clients rely on this service due to work commitments or lack of transport. We have made a conscious decision to absorb those costs ourselves to support our customers.

What we do expect in return is basic respect for appointment times and for our clearly stated cancellation policy.

Small businesses do not have a backup fund when people decide not to show up.

Policies are there to protect the survival of businesses like ours. They are not optional and they are not open to negotiation after the fact.
