It’s a Sunday, which means another happy homing post at Greyhound Trust Cumbria!

It was the turn of to find his happy ever after this week, and what a lovely home he’s found himself. Max got in touch with us initially, to enquire about finding a new pooch to be friends with Monty the lurcher, after the sad loss of their previous greyhound

Following a home assessment it was a trip to the kennels to meet some hounds and Power very quickly sold himself, chin rubs and all, so off he went in to short term foster with Max, Carly, Jude and Monty and he very quickly got himself settled

We were delighted to call in and see them in North Cumbria to finish off the paperwork and make it official, and we couldn’t be happier for our boy Power!

Great Gossey - 6 years old

Poor old Gossey, I was so hoping to be able to make his adoption post a fews times after successful trials, but it just hasn't been meant to be. Both times it hasn't been his fault it didn't work out, the feedback the second time was fantastic, he was simply a little too strong on the lead for the adopter -

"He was very loving, followed me everywhere (not sure if good or bad I thought cute) he got more and more comfortable with me noises etc after time it was only my fear of him pulling me off feet"

He is the most beautiful boy, he has a lush black coat with unique white markings on his paws, nose and tip of his tail. He does have the personality to match, he has plenty of sass and is a handful on the lead so he would be looking for a home with children over the age of 10

He's very loving and loves having his ears tickled and a treat in his mouth. He'd be fine with other larger dogs, but not smaller ones or cats

Markstreet Dan - 6 years old

What a beautiful boy Dan is, a big handsome dog with lovely white and black markings. He's a 6 year old who has bundles of energy, he loves his walks and exploring new things and has loads of enthusiasm for life, he has plenty of oomph on the lead but doesn't overuse it. He's good with other larger dogs but not smaller breeds or cats and would appreciate any children in the home to be over 6

Probably the biggest question we get asked here at Greyhound Trust Cumbria during home assessments is ‘Have the dogs been in a house before?’

The vast majority of times the answer is no but we want to highlight a couple of our boys today who have spent some time in a home. Both of them have recently been on home trials which didn’t work out through no fault of their own, and have both experience and some home training, but we did get some great feedback for them

6 year old who is one of our long stayers and definitely deserves his chance after some near misses recently - “He is a great boy, house trained and sleeps a lot and with the right family he would be amazing”

5 year old - “Left a light on for him overnight, came down to a bit of a mess this morning which is to be expected. Been out again this morning and he walked really well, had his breakfast and is now fast asleep. He’s already mastered the stairs and discovered my bed!”

Romeo Rockstar - 4 years old

Rocky is a beautiful 4 year old boy who has all the looks and he really knows it! His deep white chest and toe markings are very distinctive, and he's blessed with a lush shiny coat. He's a bigger boy at 35kg, but is a real softy at heart, he's great with other dogs and children, albeit older ones due to his size. He wouldn't be cat friendly, and does have plenty of energy but he soon calms down and is an absolute cuddle monster

Fabulous Force - 4 in July

Not yet 4, little Force is ready to move on to the next stage of her life and boy is she ready! She's a little pocket rocket at just 24kg and is a real gentle soul

She is accepting of absolutely everything she loves children, other dogs and would be a fabulous family pet either by herself or with a companion! She has plenty of energy and loves playing with her toys, but is equally happy curled up on her bed

Bad Moon Rise - 3 years old

Moon is a 3 year old boy who has everything going for him! He's a beautiful boy with a lush black coat, and still has all his puppy energy ready to play at the drop of a hat. He loves being outside chasing balls and playing with his toys, as well as lots of walks!

He's good with other larger dogs but not small breeds, and due to his energy children would need to be at least 10. He's a real fuss pot and loves attention, especially being stroked

We absolutely love a homing Sunday post and this weeks is even more special! A couple of weeks ago we posted an appeal on behalf of who had come back in to the kennels following the passing away of her adopter

Shortly after her return we had a call from one of our past adopters, Ann and her daughter Debbie. Ann had recently lost her greyhound and was looking for a new companion, and the two seemed like a perfect fit

At the viewing it was quickly obvious that things were looking good as Star immediately went in for some love and Ann was smitten. After a short period of foster it was clear that Star wouldn’t be coming back and we were able to finalise the adoption this week, giving them both a happy ending!
