Part 2: One walk cancelled owners were at home today.
At 8.50am I got into my van and the dial was 31 degrees, the second photo is temperature with the window wound down and me getting to my first walk dropped to 23 degrees. I decided to walk from their home.
Why? The temperature outside of the vehicle is a little cooler than inside the van and although they have water and a fan, I didn’t feel today was safe enough for them travel inside. I was right by the time I got to my second walk it was 25 degrees. All before 11am.
Yes my decision to cancel a walk has been to my own cost, as I have cancelled it. I would rather do that and keep your fur buddies as safe as possible, than take a risk and they get heat stroke.
Some folk might say this is over the top, they’ll be ok? I’m afraid not, I wouldn’t walk my own dogs in the heat, I certainly won’t be walking anybody else’s.
Our climate goes from one extreme to another in a flash. Not all dogs can regulate their temperature for many reasons. I don’t want to be in a position where I’m calling a client to say meet at the vets!
I will be assessing each day as it arrives. If you’re at home I’ll quite possibly cancel, if your not it will be changed to a pet welfare check or a shortened walk.
Taking care of me: As with the fur buddies I am also susceptible to heat stroke, just imagine being in a hot vehicle, getting caught in traffic and then doing three walks, more when I have home-boarders in this heat🤔😅
I love my business, the welfare of the fur buddies is always my priority.🐾😊🐾
Keep cool folks and enjoy the weather🐾
